To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that we, CHARLES A. STOCK- s'rnon and Louis S'rooits'raon, of the city of .St. Louis, in. the State of Missouri, have invented a certain new and useful. Improvement in Vapor-Burners, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming part of this specification, and in which- Figure 1 is a top view of our improved burner. Fig. 2 is a side elevation, part broken away. Fig. 3 is a vertical transverse section taken on line 3 8, Fig. 1, looking in the direc tion of the arrows. Fig. 4 is a vertical transverse section taken on line i 4, Fig. 1, looking in the direction of the arrows, the coinniingling-tube leading to the third burner being omitted. Our invention relates to certain improvements of the class of va or-burners in which a generator is used supplying to one or more burners; and our invention consists in features of novelty hereinafter fully described, and pointed out in the claims.
Referring to the drawings, A represents the body or frame of a gasoline or vapor stove, and 1' part of the supply-pipe.
0 represents the burners,which may be two or more in number. (\Ve have shown three.)
1) represents the generator, and F the commingling-tubes leading from near the generator to the respective burners, as in the form referred to. The generator consists of a disk,
F, around the periphery of which is a port or passage, G, (see Figs. 5 and 7,) with which the vertical pipe H, extending from or connected to themain supply-pipe, communicates.
This
port communicates with a transverse port or passage, F, in the disk F, and connected with this latter port are pipes or tubes J, K, and L, provided with valves .l", K, and L' (see Fig. 3) and jets J, 1i", and L, and they are also preferably provided with needle-valves J, K, and L, as shown. The jet of the pipe J is beneath a short vertical connninglingtube, M, that leads to the burner formed by the generator I) and a perforated cap or cover, 1). The valve J" of this burner is operated by a lever, J", connected thereto and extending upward and through a slot, A, in the table of the stove.
Located near the jets K L of the pipes K L are the free or open ends of the comniinglingtubes E,above1nentioned,thatcommunt cate with the burners G, that are located away from the generator. The gas and air enter these tubes, (when these last mentioned burn ers are used,) as shown by the arrows, Fig. (3, and the gas is turned on to supply these burners, and shut off by levers N, connected to the valves K and L' by rods N and cranks 1. Each lever is pivoted beneath its burner at O and passes through slots A in the top of the stove, the same as lever il 'We have shown one of the rods connected to its lever between the pivot O and the end of the lever, and the other rod connected to the end of the lever that extends beyond the pivot. By this arrangement the levers are moved in the same direction to open or close both valves K and If, notwithstanding the valves project in opposite directions from the generator. Each burner thus has its own independent valve-lo ver,whilc but the one generator is used,which is much more convenient than having the levers of all the valves clustered together at the generator, as has been the practice heretofore. lVhen it is desired to use either one of these burners that are located away from the generator, the lever located at such burner is moved to turn on the supply the same as with burners of the usual form.
\Ve have shown the tubes '3 supported by straps T, depending from beneath the top of the stove. The burners are shown as pro vided with arms V, by which they are con nected to rings above them made fast to the top of the stove.

the outside burners, and the levers N are connected to the valves K L by racks U and pinions V, the levers in this case being turned or revolved instead of being swung on a pivot, as in our preferred form.
It is not absolutely necessary to have a burner located at the generator, as We have shown, though we prefer to construct the stoves in this manner; nor is it necessary that the form of lever shown, both as our preferred form and as a modification of the same, should.
be used, as any means to form a connection between each burner and thevalve of that burn-' er located at the generator could be used.
WVe claim as our invention- 1. The combination, with a gasoline-stove having a suitable burner, of a generator having a valve, a connecting-tube extending from the valve to the burner, an operating-rod in proximity to the burner, and a rod or its equivalent for connecting the operating-rod at the burner to the valve-rod at the generator, substantially as set forth.
2. The combination, with. a gasolinc stove having a plurality of burners, of a generator having a valve for each burner, conductingtubes extending from the respective valves to the respective burners, an operating-rod for and in proximity to each burner, and a rodor its equivalent for connecting the operating rods to their respective valve-rods located at the generator, substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
3. The combination,with a-burner, of a generator having a Valve, a commingling-tubc extending fromthe valve to the burner, a crank-arm on the valve-stem, a lever in close proximity to the burner, and a rod connecting the crank-arm and lever, substantially as set forth.
4. The combination,with burners, of a gem erator having valves provided with crankarms, independent levers in proximity to the burners, independent commingling-tubes extending from the burners to their respective valves, and rods connecting the levers with their respective crank-arms, substantially as set forth.
5. The generator fora vapor-burner, comprising a supply-pipe, disk F, having port or passage G around the periphery, and transverse port or passage F, valves having tubes J K L connecting with said transverse port a or passage, and a perforated cap or cover, I), L substantially as set forth.
