Claims (1)

1. IN A METHOD OF SETTING A BEAD ON A BEAD REGION OF A TIRE CARCASS PLY CYLINDER WOUND ON A DRUM NO GREATER IN DIAMETER THAN THE INTERNAL DIAMETER OF SAID CARCASS IN THE REGION OF SAID BEAD AFTER SAID CARCASS HAS BEEN COMPLETELY FORMED AND OF THEREAFTER TURNING UP SAID BEAD REGION OF SAID PLY CYLINDER ABOUT SAID BEAD AND ADHERING SAID BEAD REGION TO SAID PLY CYLINDER, SAID BEAD HAVING A GREATER INSIDE DIAMETER THAN THE OUTSIDE DIAMETER OF SAID PLY CYLINDER THE STEPS COMPRISING: POSITIONING SAID PLY CYLINDER AND SAID BEAD COAXIALLY; FIRST HOLDING SAID BEAD IN SAID COAXIAL RELATIONSHIP WHILE ADVANCING SAID BEAD TO A POSITION ENCIRCLING SAID PLY CYLINDER BEAD REGION AND SPACED THEREFROM; RADIALLY EXPANDING SAID PLY CYLINDER END REGION INTO A SET POSITION OF CONTACT WITH SAID BEAD; HOLDING SAID PLY CYLINDER AND SAID BEAD IN SAID SET POSITION BY FORCE APPLIED FROM INSIDE SAID PLY CYLINDER WITH SAID BEAD CONCENTRIC WITH THE AXIS OF SAID PLY CYLINDER WHILE RELEASING SAID FIRST HOLD; AND TURNING UP SAID PLY CYLINDER BEAD REGION ABOUT SAID BEAD AND ADHERING THE END OF SAID PLY CYLINDER TO SAID PLY CYLINDER WHILE MAINTAINING SAID HOLD FROM WITHIN SAID PLY CYLINDER; SAID FORCE BEING APPLIED TO SAID PLY CYLINDER IN SUCH DIRECTIONS THAT SAID FABRIC IS SAID BEAD REGION OF SAID CARCASS PLY CYLINDER, WHEN TUNED UP AND ADHERED TO SAID PLY CYLINDER, FORMS AN ANGLE WITH THE ACIS OF SAID PLY CYLINDER GREATER THAN 0* BUT LESS THAN APPROXIMATELY 70*.
