TOY GUN AND MAGAZINE THEREFOR FOR HOLDING CUP-LIKE CAPS Filed Jan. 26, 1966 4 Tram/e75 United States Patent Ofifice 3,362,897 Patented Jan. 9, 1968 3,362,097 TOY GUN AND MAGAZINE THEREFOR FOR HOLDWG CUP-LIKE CAPS Giampiero Ferri, Via A. Stoppani 38, and Jori Marinai, Via A. Stoppani 29, both of Florence, Italy Filed Jan. 26, 1966, Ser. No. 523,191 Claims priority, application Italy, Jan. 30, 1965, 612/65 2 Claims. (Cl. 42-54) ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The combination of a toy gun and a magazine therefor is provided wherein the gun has a stock having a magazine-receiving recess into which a magazine is inserted whose external configuration forms a complementary fit with the recess in the gun stock. The magazine has a channel within it for holding a flexible strip of cup-like caps for feeding into the firing end of the gun.
This invention relates to an ammunition magazine to be inserted in a toy gun.
It is an object of the invention to provide an improved toy gun magazine.
According to the present invention there is provided a magazine for use in a toy gun adapted to fire caps arranged as a flexible strip, comprising a housing having a channel therein which is open at at least one end, said channel being curve-d over a part of its length.
Further according to the present invention there is provided a magazine for use in a toy gun adapted to fire cup-like caps arranged as a flexible strip, said magazine comprising a housing including a substantially straight elongate portion adapted to engage in a complementary recess in the gun, an end portion having abutment faces adapted to abut complementary faces of the gun and thus to maintain at least a part of said portion outside the said recess, and means defining within said housing a channel having a rectilinear portion extending to the firing position of the gun and a U-shaped portion extending within said end portion of the housing.
An embodiment of a toy gun magazine in accordance with the invention will now be described, by way of example, with reference to the accompanying diagrammatic drawing, the sole figure of which is a fragmentary section of a toy gun incorporating the magazine.
Referring to the drawing a gun 1 has a stock 1a. A magazine 2 is introduced into a recess in the stock 1a and has an end portion or butt 2a projecting from the stock 1a and facilitating the extraction and introduction of the magazine. The magazine 2, 2a has an internal channel 3, for the accommodation of a strip or band of caps 4, of which 4a indicates a cup-shaped cap, which is in a firing position of the gun.
The channel 3 is extended to form a loop 3a, within the end portion 2a, and a length 3b. The loop 3a extends over an arc in excess of degrees.
It will be appreciated that the maxim-um length of the strip 4, which can be inserted into the channel 3, 3a, 3b, is no longer than the overall length of the magazine,
The hereinbefore described magazine permits the storage of a strip of caps, the length of which is in excess of the length dimension of the magazine in the direction in which the strip can be advanced in order to locate each cap in the firing position of a gun.
The toy gun, a portion of which is shown in the drawing is similar to that described in our co-pending United States Patent No. 3,304,644 which issued on Feb. 21, 1967.
We claim:
1. The combination of a toy gun and magazine therefor, wherein said gun has a stock having a magazinereceiving recess extending from its butt end to the firing end of said stock, the recess at the firing end being rectilinear in shape, said stock having abutment faces at its butt end, and wherein said magazine is externally configurated to form a complementary fit with said gun recess, said magazine comprising a housing having a substantially straight elongated end portion for insertion into the complementary rectilinear recess portion of the gun and a corresponding butt end portion with complementary abutment faces for contacting the abutment faces of the gun stock at its butt end, said housing having a channel for holding cup-like caps, arranged as a flexible strip, said channel being U-shaped at the complementary butt end and extending through the straight elongated end portion in communication with the firing end of the gun.
2. The combination of claim 1 wherein the U-shaped portion of the channel extends over an arc of at least 180".
