COUGH REMEDY.
SPECIFICATION forming part o Letters Patent No. 332,946, dated December 22, 1885.
Application filed July 8, 1885. Serial No. 170,941. (No specimens.)
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, J AMES F. RICHARDSON, of Toledo, in the county of Lucas and State of Ohio, have invented a new and usefulImprovement in Compound of Tar, which improvement is 'fully set forth in the following specification.
My compound relates to a new and useful composition of matter to be used for medical purposes, such as bronchitis, coughs, colds, or any complaint in the throat arising from a cold. The composition consists of the following ingredients, combined in the manner and proportions stated, namely: raw tar, (pinetar,) one table-spoonful; Cayenne pepper, onefourth tea-spoonful; vinegar, one gill strong red-clover tea, one gill; honey, one pint; buttmce; sugar, one pound. In preparing these ingredients I first dissolve the Cayenne pepper in the vinegar. maining ingredients are added, and together boiled slowly until the tar has all been con- Then. the resumed by the other components.
