Description
April 11, 1967 J. A. MANCL BEVERAGE CONTAINER SUPPORT Filed Sept. 26, 1966 Du O T N E V N JOSEPHINE A. MANCL ATTORNEY United States Patent *Ofiice 3,313,508 Patented Apr. 11, 1967 3,313,508 BEVERAGE CONTAINER SUPPORT Josephine A. Mancl, 1720 S. th St., Wisconsin Rapids, Wis. 54494 Filed Sept. 26, 1966, Ser. No. 581,956 5 Claims. (Cl. 248-229) This invention relates to an improved beverage support for golf carts or the like. This support is highly practical and useful as it conveniently provides hot or cold drinks to golf players while on the fairways or gold course on hot or cold days.
This invention provides drinks to golf players by having a beverage support or carrier attached to any convenient place on the golf-cart handle in order that the beverage can be carried along the golf course for use when the player gets thirty or desires a drink. On a hot day the cool drink is kept cool by means of a Thermos bottle or the like carried attached to the golf-cart handle and on a cool day a warm drink may be carried in a like manner.
The prime object of my invention is to provide a device that is easily applied, or removed from the handle of a conventional golf cart, and one that supports any article desired to be conveyed by the cart, or the like. This invention may help to possibly improve the golfers game by having beverages or drinks available for him when needed rather than have him run back to the clubhouse or drinking fountain and thus take his mind off his game at a critical point. By this means if he gets thirsty the golfer has his drink easily available.
To make the drink easily available, as an object of my invention a device of the character described is constructed in a manner to enable the member supporting the bottle, or the like, to frictionally engage the attaching member clamped to a position of the golf-cart handle for ease in removing and replacing because the member holding or supporting the bottle is engaged by frictional contact with the support member and is easily removed or replaced.
The device is simple in construction economical to manufacture and is highly eflicient for the purpose intended.
Further objects of my invention will become more apparent as the description proceeds, when taken in conjunction with the drawings, in which:
FIG. 1 is a perspective view of the device constituting my invention, applied to a conventional golf-cart which is shown in phantom;
FIG. 2 is a perspective view of the clamp type engaging member;
FIG. 3 is a perspective view of the supporting member for the bottle or the like, designed for frictional engagement with the clamp member;
FIG. 4 is a horizontal cross-sectional View of the device as applied to the handle of a golf-cart or the like;
FIG. 5 is a perspective view of the assembled device as applied to the handle of a golf-cart, shown in phantom;
FIG. 6 is a vertical cross-sectional view of the device applied to the handle, and
FIG. 7 is a cross-sectional view of a modified type of clamp member.
Similar characters of reference indicate corresponding parts throughout the several views, and referring now to the same, the character 10 shows generally the assembled device constituting my invention attached to a conventional golf-cart shown in phantom in FIG. 1.
In FIG. 2, I show a clamp support 11, which is circumferentially formed to encircle the handle 16 of the golfcart (see FIGS. 4 and 5), and is provided with a pair of flanges 12 equipped with apertures 13 to accommodate bolts 14 equipped with nuts 15 (see FIG. 6) for forcing the clamp 11 around the periphery of the handle 15 for frictional engagement therewith.
The circumferentially disposed support 11 is provided With a channel shown as 17, and extending longitudinally therewith.
The engaging member generally shown as 18, has a top plate 19 and a lower plate 20 (see FIG. 3), integrally formed and spaced apart from one another.
The top plate 19 is inwardly depressed for slidable and frictional engagement with the channel 17, and the lower plate 20, acts as a support for the straps 21 attached thereto by screw, or rivets 22, or in any other convenient and efficient manner. The straps 21 may be constructed of plastic, or woven material, and are shown equipped with buckles 23, however any other attaching means may be employed.
In FIG. 4, I show a beverage bottle, or the like as 24 in phantom held by the straps 21. The modified clamp support shown in FIG. 7, eliminates the flanges 12 and bolts 14, and has its upper curved lips 25 terminally disposed, so that the entire clamp may be forced over the outer periphery of the handle 16, and held by resilient means by the band.
From the above description it will become manifest that the device consists of the two parts 11 and 18, enga ing one another. The clamp 11 encircles the handle 16 of the cart, and the engaging member 18 supporting the bottle 24 slidably enters the channel 17 making it easy to apply and remove.
Although I have shown a specific construction, I am fully cognizant of the fact that many changes may be made in the pants and their arrangement without effecting their operativeness, and I reserve the rights to make such changes as I may deem convenient and necessary, without departing from the spirit of my invention, or the scope of the appended claims.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent in the United States is:
1. A beverage container support that is removably associated with the handle of a golf cart in order that a beverage container can be transported by said golf cart comprising a clamp that is circumferentially formed to encircle the handle of a golf cart, said clamp being provided with means for forcing the clamp around the periphery of the handle for frictional engagement therewith and a channel extending longitudinally therealong and a resilient engaging member having a top plate and a lower plate spaced apart, said resilient engaging member being received by said channel and for frictionally engaging said handle when said clamp encircles said handle and an engaging member to support a beverage container associated with said clamp.
2. A beverage container support as described in claim 1 wherein said clamp is provided with a pair of flanges equipped with apertures to accommodate bolts equipped with nuts for clamping means.
3. A beverage container support as described in claim 1 wherein said resilient engaging member has an upper plate inwardly depressed for slidable and frictional engagement with said channel extending along said clamp.
4. A beverage container support as described in claim 1 wherein said engaging member is formed for frictional and slidable engagement with said channel of said clamp support and having a lower plate supporting straps and said supporting straps constructed of plastic or woven material and equipped with buckles or the like for attachment and support of a beverage bottle.
5. A beverage container support as described in claim 1 wherein the resilient member is U-shaped and having an upper plate in the channel of said clamp as described in claim 1 and a lower plate on the outside of said clamp.
