SI ECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 324,079, dated August 11, 1885.

Be it known that I, NANCY ELLA BURCH, of Carthage, in the county of Jasper and State of Missouri, have invented a new and Improved Flower-Stand, of which the following isa full, clear, and exact description.

The object of my invention is to provide a new and improved flower-stand for holding flowers in pots, and so that the flowers can be watered without wetting or soiling the floor.

The invention consists in the peculiar construction and arrangement of parts, as hereinafter fully described, and pointed out in the claims.

Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawings, forming part of this specification, in which similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts in both the figures.

Figure 1 is a side view of my improved flower-stand, parts being broken out and others being in section. Fig. 2 is a plan view of the same, parts being broken out.

The standard A, which may have legs of any desired suitable kind, is provided in its top with a funnel-shaped; or semi-spherical cavity, B, for receiving a metal or other funnel, G, from which a tube, D, projects downward to the top of a cavity or recess, E, formed in the standard below the funnel, and adapted to receive a vessel, F, provided with a neck, G, on which an internally-screw-threaded coupling-sleeve, H, is held to turn, the said neck being adapted to be screwed on the externally-screw-threaded lower end of the conducting-tube D. Gross-pieces J are secured on the top of the standard and extend over the funnel, and from the middles or intersection of the said cross-pieces a pin or pivot, K, projects upward and through the middles or intersection of cross-pieces L on a hollow circular top, M, provided with an annular track, N, which rests upon rollers O, pivoted in jaws projecting upward from the top of the standard. An annular trough, P, is secured on the projecting ends of the cross-pieces J, outside of and concentric with the annular top of the standard, and gutters Q extend from the annular trough P into the upper part of the funnel O. The revolving top M is provided with three or more or less risers or offsets, R, provided with a series of holes, S, for receiving the flower-pots, Which rest upon apertured spherical.

(Model plates T, secured to the under sides of the horizontal steps. Slots or other openings, V, are formed in the risers or vertical parts of the steps to permit air to circulate under the pots. The standard is provided with casters or rollers. The drip-water fromthe pots on the inner two steps or offsets drops directly into the funnel O, and the water from the pots on the outer step drops into the gutter P, and then flows through the gutters Q into the funnel and from the same into the vessel F, which is preferably made of glass, so that the level of the water in the same can be seen. WVhen the vessel F is filled, the coupling H is unscrewed and the vessel removed. The flowers in the pots can be watered without soiling or wetting the floor, and the top can easily be turned and each pot reached.

I do not limit myself to the exact details of construction as shown and described-as, for instance, if desired, the funnel G can be made shallow and cone shaped instead of semi- Such a funnel can be more readily made and will occupy less space in the stand.

.claim as new and desire to secure by Letters and a revolving top having steps or offsets above the-funnel and communicating with the said funnel, substantially as herein shown and described.
