Description

July 27, 1965 I. .DOBA
NURSING BOTTLE HQLDERS Filed Oct- 30, 1962 INVENTOR.
United States Patent 3,197,099 NURSlNG BOTTLE HOLDERS Inez Doha, 2717 Westwood Place, Davenport, Iowa Filed Get. 30, 1962, Ser. No. 234,110 3 Claims. (Cl. 224-5) My invention relates to a nursing bottle holder adapted to be worn on and supported by the person of the user.
The object of my invention is to provide a nursing bottle holder with a loop of plastic band passing around the neck of the user and a lower spiral coil adapted to hold a nursing bottle inclining downwardly in position for feeding an infant held on the lap or in the arms of the user and without being held by the hands of the user.
My invention provides complete or partial freedom for one or both hands of the user while holding the infant that will give the infant the satisfaction of being close to the breast of the user and give the user freedom of one or both hands for answering a telephone or doorbell, or while sewing, darning, peeling vegetables, or other use, so designed and constructed that the bottle can be moved without difficulty to and rested upon either shoulder of the user if the infant stops feeding or needs to be burped or moved for any reason.
The holder is composed of a band of firm, flexible material, preferably plastic, with the free end of the loop formed in a hook adapted to engage the opposite portion thereof between the bottle and the loop, but which can be adjusted to change the size of the loop to fit different persons and to permit moving the bottle away from the infant when desired.
The loops 3-3 are slightly flexible and easily movable enough to allow the infant to move naturally as he would often do in nursing at the breast.
My holder is illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which- FIGURE 1 is a front elevation with the loop 1 around the neck of the user and with the rubber nipple 7 of the bottle 5 in the mouth of the infant and the spiral coils 3 loose enough and adapted to allow a limited movement of the bottle from the suction of the infant thereon;
FIGURE 2 is a plan view showing the free end of the loop 1 with its hook 8 over the opposite part 2 thereof;
FIGURE 3 shows an enlarged sectional detail of the hook 8 and band 2 fastening it, on the line 3-3 of FIG- URE 2.
Similar numerals refer to similar parts throughout the several views.
Various modifications may be made in the material, size and proportions of the parts Without departing from the spirit of my claims and I do not limit my claims to the precise forms shown and described.
I claim:
1. A nursing bottle holder comprising a single elongated strip of plastic, bent at one end into the shape of a series of spirals to wrap around the body of the nursing bottle, the other end portion of said strip being bent to provide a neck loop to encircle the neck of an infants attendant and having its free end bent backwardly upon itself to provide clamping means to receive the portion of the main body of the metal strip adjacent to said neck loop and retain the neck loop in an adjusted position with respect to the nursing bottle.
2. In a holder for nursing bottles, the combination of a single elongated strip of plastic, bent at one end into the shape of a series of spirals to wrap around the body of the nursing bottle, with the other end portion of said strip being bent to provide a neck loop to encircle the neck of an infants attendant and having its free end bent backwardly upon itself to provide clamping means in the form of a hook to receive the portion of the main part of the metal strip adjacent said neck loop and retain the neck loop in an adjusted position with respect to the nursing bottle.
3. In a holder for nursing bottles, the combination of a single elongated strip of plastic, bent at one end into a series of spirals to wrap around the body of the nursing bottle, the other end portion of said strip being bent to provide a neck loop to encircle the neck of an infants attendant and having its free end bent backwardly upon itself, with clamping means in the form of a hook to receive the portion of the main part of the strip adjacent said neck loop and retain the neck loop in an adjusted position with respect to the nursing bottle.
