Description

UNITE STATES PATENT OFFICE.
OSCAR KITGHELL, OF VALPARAISO, INDIANA.
EGG-BEATER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 308,901, dated December 9, 1884.
Application filed April 17, 1884.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, OSCAR KITCHELL, a citizen of the United States, residing at Valparaiso, in the county of Porter and State of I11- diana, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Egg-Beaters, of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawing.
This invention has relation to improvements in that class of devices known as egg-beaters; and it consists in the construction and novel arrangement of the same, all as will be here inafter more fully eXplained,a-nd particularly pointed out in the claim appended.
The annexed drawing, to which referenceis made, fully illustrates myinvention, in which the figure represents a perspective sectional view of a vessel, showing my improved beater applied thereto. 7
Referring by letter to the accompanying drawing, Adesignates a vessel of any suitable construction, which is provided with alid, B, that is centrally perforated, throughwhich projects the upper end of a vertical rod, 0, having secured thereto a pinion, D, which meshes with a gear-wheel, 1*],journaled in a. bearing-plate, F, secured to the top of the cover. This vertical rod 0 is provided at its lower end with a cone-shaped bearing, G, in which is the bearing-pin or lug H, that is secured to the bottom and on the inside of the vessel aforesaid. i
I indicates the beater, consisting of the four blades J, which curve from their upper end, K, downwardly and inwardly, as at L, and at the lower end thereof the same is bent upwardly and inwardly, as shown at M, and se (No model.)
cured to the red C. These blades, as at Nand O, are constructed of a single piece of metal, as well as the pair P and R, and about the center of each pair of blades are secured oblique blades or braces S, which assist in beating or mixing the contents of the vessel, and at the same time serve as braces for the blades J.
It will be observed from the above description, and by reference to the drawing, that the operation of my device is very simple. The operator turns the crank on the gear-wheel, thus, through the medium of the same, imparting motion to the beater through the pinion, when said beater revolves rapidly, turning on the pivot-bearing in the bottom of the vessel, and thereby thoroughly mixing the contents of the vessel.
Having described my invention, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, 1s
The herein-described egg-beater, consisting of the blades J, constructed in pairs, curving outwardly and downwardly, and then upwardly. and connected to the rod 0, and provided -with the oblique braces S, the rod (1, having the cone-shaped bearing G, pivot-bearing H, pinion D, gear-wheel E, having the crank-handle, vessel A, coverB, and plate secured there to, the whole arranged as shown, described,
and for the purpose specified.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
OSCAR KITOHELL.
