Description

A ril 16, 1963 D. w. VANDERBURG DRYING FORM FOR BRASSIERE Filed July 6, 1959 INVENTOR.

United States Patent 3,085,723 DRYING FORM FOR BRASSIERE Doris W. Vanderhurg, Birmingham, Ala. (121 N. Richard St., Florence, Ala.) Filed July 6, 1959, Ser. No. 825,122 2 Claims. (Cl. 223-66) This invention relates to a drying form for brassiere. It has for its main objects to provide such a device that will be highly satisfactory for the purpose intended, simple in structure, cheap to manufacture, easy to use and keep in good serviceable condition, and very durable.

It is well known that when a brassiere is cleaned by washing it will not hold its regular shape while drying unless some way is provided to hold its shape while drying. The present invention provides simple means for such a purpose.

Other objects and advantages will appear from the drawing and description.

By referring generally to the drawing it will be observed that FIG. 1 is a front elevational view of -a form made according to this invention; FIG. 2 is a back view of the form; FIG. 3 is a side view of the form showing the bendable part of one side extended; FIG. 4 is a detail view showing how the bendable parts are removably attached together at their ends; and FIG. 5 is an edge view of FIG. 4.

Similar reference numerals refer to similar parts throughout the sever-a1 views.

Referring to the drawing in detail it will be seen that the device comprises two similar extending outward portions 1 and 2 of a shape for the cup shaped parts of a brassiere to fit thereon. These portions are integral on a base and are rigid and are hollow or cup shaped. The end portions 3 and 4 are bendable and are integral with the rigid portions. One end portion 3 is provided with holes 5 adapted for the latch 6 integral with the other end portion 4 to fit remov-ably therein. The cup shaped parts are provided with a hinge structure between them comprising eyes 7 integral on the edge of one main portion with bent parts 8 integral on the edge of the other main portion. This structure provides for separating the parts when not in use.

The structure is provided with a plurality of ventilating holes 9 to help in drying a brassiere on the form.

From the foregoing it will appear that the form is adapted for a wet brassiere to be placed thereon and have the back ends of the form attached together to suitable tightness to hold the brassiere in its normal shape for drying. The attaching means of the brassiere are also used to keep it in proper shape for drying.

ice

The form may be made of any material suitable for the purpose, but I prefer to use aluminum or plastic or the like; also it may be made in diiterent sizes and capacities, depending on the sizes of brassieres to be dried.

While I have shown and described the preferred embodiment of my invention, I do not wish to limit same to the exact and precise details of structure, and reserve the right to make all modifications and changes so long as they remain within the scope of the invention and the following claims.

Having described my invention I claim:

1. A drying form made of relatively rigid, sheetlike bendable material for a brassiere comprising, two base portions, each base portion having an integral hollow substantially cup shaped portion, attaching eye means in tegral on the inner base edge of one portion, hook means integral on the inner base edge of the other part, said hook and eye means being adapted to hold said base portions together when in use; a bendable flat end portion integral with and extending from each fiat cup base portion, a plurality of adjusting holes in the end of one bendable portion, -a connecting hook integral in the end of the other bendable portion; a plurality of ventilating holes in the structure.

2. A drying form made of relatively rigid, sheetlike bendable material for a brassiere comprising, a base structure having two similar extending integral portions, each of said portions being hollow and substantially cup shaped, attaching means as eyes integral on the inner base edge of one of said portions, hooks as connecting means on the inner base edge of the other portion, said hook and eye means being adapted to hold said cup and base portions together when in use; a bendable flat portion integral with and extending from each end flat base portion, one bendable portion having a plurality of holes therein, a connecting hook, said hook being integral in the end of the other bendable portion, said hook and holes being adjusting means for bending and holding the form in curved position when in use; said form having a plurality of holes therein as wentilating means.
