  • Second carrier sheet 20 and leader sheet 30 should start along a transverse line at the leading ends of the sheets in the region of their attachment to first carrier sheet 16, necessitating that the second carrier sheet 20 and leader sheet 30 have a tendency to break or fold and roll more readily at this location. It is for this reason that the second carrier sheet and leader sheet are tapered so as to provide the least resistance to folding or breaking at their narrowest portions which occur at their point of attachment to the first carrier sheet.
  • Manufacture and assembly of the film units could be facilitated if the second carrier sheet 20 and leader sheet 30 were not required to be tapered in order to insure breaking and commencement of roll along a particular line; and accordingly, other means may be provided for appreciably weakening the sheets in the region of their attachment to the first carrier sheet to insure breaking and commencement of roll in this region.
  • These means may take the form shown in FIG. 3 and comprise a series of apertures or hole 86 formed in second carrier sheet 20 and leader sheet 39 in a line across the sheets in the region of their attachment to the first carrier sheet. Apertures 86 in the sheets appreciably reduce the stiffness or resistance of the sheets to bending or breaking in this area, without lessening to an undesirable degree the strength of the sheets in tension.
  • the second sheet and the remaining photosensitive sheets are required to be held substantially stationary with respect to the pressure plate and container 44. Accordingly, means are provided for holding the rearmost second sheet 14 substantially stationary with respect to container 44 while the photosensitive sheet 12, comprising the same film unit, is moved into superposition with the second sheet between the latter and rear wall 48 of the container.

  • a photographic film assemblage comprising first and second sheet-like elements arranged for superpositioning with one another for aiding in the distribution of a fluid processing composition between said elements, a first sheet secured at an edge of said first element and extending outwardly from said edge, a second sheet secured to said second element at an edge of one surface thereof, said one surface being that surface of said second element which is arranged for superpositioning with said first element, said second sheet including a portion extending outwardly from said edge of said second element and being joined with said first sheet for positioning said elements in superposition with one another, a rupturable container of a fluid processing composition mounted on one of said first and second sheets on the portion of said one sheet extending outwardly from said edge of said element to which said one sheet is attached, said container being mounted on that surface of said one sheet which is located in facing relation to the other of said sheets when said elements are superposed, a third sheet secured to the opposite surface of said second element at said edge thereof and including a portion extending outwardly from said edge of said second element in superposed relation
  • a photographic film assemblage comprising a first sheet-like element having on one surface thereof an exposure frame including a photosensitive material capable of forming a developable image upon exposure to actinic light, a second sheet-like element having on one surface thereof an area at least coextensive with said exposure frame and adapted to be superposed with said exposure frame for aiding in the distribution of a fluid processing composition between said frame and area, a first sheet extending between edges of said first and second elements connecting said elements to one another, said first sheet including a first section secured to said first element at said edge of said first element and a second section secured to said one surface of said second element at said edge thereof, said first and second sections of said first sheet being located adjacent one another and being disposed to- Ward opposite ends of said first sheet, a rupturable container of a fluid processing composition including a developer for said photosensitive material mounted on said first sheet adjacent one of said elements on the surface of said first sheet which faces in the same direction as said one surface of said first element, and a second sheet secured to the opposite surface of said second
