Be it known that I, SAMUEL J. STOFER, a citizen of the United States, residing at North Liberty, in the county of St. Joseph and State of Indiana, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Glover and feed Hooks for Flows; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact descripthermore, possess advantages in point of in-' expensiveness. durability, ease of attachment, and general efficiency.

To this end my invention consists, substair tially, in animproved hook adapted to the shape of the mold-board, and hung from the beam so that it will extend out over the mold board, substantially as willbehereinafter more fully set forth.

In the drawings, Figure l is a perspective View showing my improved hook in position upon the plow; Fig. 2 is a detail perspective View showing the hook and its securing-block detached. Fig. 3 is a detail transverse sectional view taken through the beam and the block upon which the hook is hung. Fig. 4 is a detail front view of the hook.

Corresponding parts in the figures are denoted by the same letters of reference.

Referring to the drawings, A designates the plow-beam, to which is secured a suitable block, 13, upon which the hook G is hung. This hanger-block may be secured at any suit- .able point upon the beam and the side, top,

and is provided with a securing-nut, E. The

slot 1) in the block permits of its longitudinal adjustment on the beam to the full limit of the slot, and the groove 1) is adapted to serve as a guide to the block during this adjustment, and it also serves normally to obviate lateral movement or displacement of the block upon the beam. In the portion of the block which projects laterally from the beam a 1011- gitudinal perforation, .b, is formed to receive the hanger portion of the hook and provide a bearing therefor. The clover and weed hook G is adapted to be hung upon the beam so that it will have a free swinging movement thereon, and it is preferably formed of a single piece of metallic rod. The hook conforms somewhat to the shape of the mold-board, and comprises a straight bearing portion, 0, at its top, which is received by the perforation in the hanger block, and from the rear end of this portion cit extends downwardly andrearwardly, as shown at c, this latter portion being preferably curved or bowed inwardly. From the lower end of the portion 0 the hook is carried forwardly, as shown at c, this bot tom portion being preferably curved or bowed inwardly, and provided with an upwardly and outwardly turned front end, 0 having the point 0". This front end, 0, is connected with the front end of the bearing portion 0 by an upwardly-extending portion, 0", which is preferably curved or bowed outwardly, as shown.

The operation and advantages of my invention will be readily understood from the foregoing description and annexed drawings. \V hen the plow is out of the ground, the hook will hang down against the face of the moldboard, and when the plow is in the ground the book serves to gather the clover, weeds, &c., and keep the same turned over and down until the earth from the furrow is turned upon it.

I claim as my invention.

2. The combination, with a plow-beam, of the hanger-block having the groove I) formed in its top face and receiving the beam, and provided with the longitudinally-extending slot and with the longitudinal bearing-perforation Zf" at its outer end, a securing-bolt pass ing through said slot and up through the beam, and a clover and weed hook, comprising astraight bearing portion, passing through the perforation Z)", substantially as and for the purpose set forth. r r r 3. The herein-described improved clover and weed hook for plows, formed of a single piece of bent rod, and comprising a straight bearing portion, 0, at its top, an inwardlybowed downwardly-extending rear portion, 0, an outwardly-bowed upwardly-extending front portion, a, and an inwardly-bowed bottom portion, 0 formed with the, outwardlyturned front end, substantially as set forth.
