Be it known that I, J A0013 R. MOORE, a citizen of the United States, residing at Clayton,

in the county of Lenawee and State of Michinovel and simplified heating apparatus and drying-rack combined which is adapted for operation in connection with an ordinary stove; and it consists, essentially, of asupporting frame or. clamp provided with two adj ustable crank-rods, which are provided, respectively, with the heating device and drying-tray,

the former being so arranged as to be readily introduced into the fire-chamber of the stove or removed therefrom at pleasure, while the drying tray or frame swings freely over the upper part of the stove at any desired height. It further consists of other details of construction and general arrangement of parts, all as will be hereinafter more fully described, and specifically designated in the claims.

In carrying out my invention the supporting-frame A is provided with the usual clamping-jaws and set-screws for attaching the same to the hearth or flange of the stove, the front ,portion of said frame terminating in a Vertical upright, A, which is provided upon each upper and lower end with a plate, 13, secured thereto by the nuts a, the said plate B having two circular openings, 12 b, of unequal diameters, through the same near its central portion, and a wedge-shaped holding device, 0, to

which is loosely adjusted in the larger circular openings Z) of the upper and lower plates, B, and held therein at suitable heights by means of the chain (1, one end of which is secured to a projection upon the lower part of said tube or pipe, while the upper portion is adapted to be drawn into the wedge-shaped recess of the holding device 0, and the free end of the chain provided with a ring, 01, as fully shown in Figs. 1 and 2.

D represents a rod bent'into the form of a crank, the longer end 6 of which projects down into the open upper end of the tube or pipe 0, while the short and upwardly-projecting end 6 is adapted to receive the drying frame or tray E,which is composed of two parallel pipes or tubes, f, unitedat their centers by a cross rod or tube, 9, having an open thimble or joint, 9, at its center to fit over upon the end 6 of the crank-rod D, as fully shown in Fig. 4.

F represents a rod similar in shape to that of the crank-rod D,thelonger and downwardlyprojecting end h of which fits in the smaller circular open ings b in the plates B, and adj usted therein at suitable heights by the chain i en gaging with the same, in a manner similar to that already described upon the tube or pipe 0, the shortest and upwardly-projecting end h of the said rod F being adapted to receive one end of the heating device, as shown in Fig. 1. This heating device or apparatus is composed of an upper pipe, 70, which opens into a hollow head-block, m, at one end, and is provided witha gasoline or othersuitable supplytank, G, at the opposite end, and directly over the point where the apparatus is pivoted upon the end h of the rod F, a suitable stop-cock, I, being provided at or near the outer end of said pipe, to regulate the flow of gasoline from the tank to the burners. Directly beneath the upper pipe, k, and projecting from the headblock m, is provided a short pipe, 11,, which is closed at its outer end, and adapted to receive burners of any desired or suitable kind. Two screw-plugs, 0, are provided upon the end of the head-block m, on a line with the pipes k and a, so as to permit of the easy cleaning of the said pipes at any time.

of the stove, to regulate the heat from the burn-- ers, and to conduct the products of combustion up the usual flue.

By means of my improvements fruits of all kinds may be readily evaporated or dried in the best manner, and also the ordinary methods of kindling a fire in the stove may be dispensed with and my apparatus substituted in place .thereof. requiring but a few minutes time for the adjustment of the same in place, and se curing sufficient heat for the ordinary purposes of cooking, the scent of the oil or gasoline being conducted up the usual flue, thereby obviating the smell usually attendant upon the employment-of all other devices used for such purposes.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and useful is 1. The herein-described heating device and drying-tray combined, consisting of the supporting-frame A, provided with the plates B, having chain-holding devices 0 and circular openings b 2), adapted to receive the tube 0, crank-rods D and F, which are adjustably secured therein by the chains (Z and i, and carrying the drying-frame E, and the frame of the oil or gasoline burners, all substantially as and for the purpose specified.

2. The supporting-frame A, provided with the upright A, adapted to receive the plates B, having the chain-holding devices 0 and circular openings 1) Z), in combination with the tube 0. crank-rods D and F, chains d and z, and the drying-frame E, and heating device, all substantially as and for the purpose specified.
