Description
T. LAGOMA I Feb. 2, 1960 MASK Filed Oct. 15, 1958 R i i W W l A M? i United States Patent MASK Trinidad Lagoma, Jackson Heights, N.Y.
Application October 15, 1958, Serial No. 767,466
5 Claims. (Cl. 128-76) This invention relates in general to beauty treatment devices and particularly to a new and useful facial treatment mask.
One of the known beauty treatments for correcting facial disfigurations such as wrinkles is the use of a mud or cream pack which is applied to the face to invigorate it and to attempt to correct facial distortions such as wrinkles. With all of these methods it is diflicult if not impossible to mold the skin into a wrinkle-free contour, and hold the skin in this contour for a period of time in order to train the skin into corrected non-wrinkling attitudes.
In accordance with the present invention there is provided a mask which in one embodiment covers the face. The mask is made of a light-weight pliable material such as cloth and includes two spaced layers of the cloth which are filled with a material which remains plastic for an indefinite period of time, but which is sufficiently dense to be deformable into a fixed contour which is maintained unless the lines of the contour are removed by the application of sufiicient molding pressure. A substance suitable for such a mask would be a molding clay of a type referred to as plasteline. Any clay or putty which does not harden would also be acceptable.
The invention provides a mask or tourniquet-type applicator which may be applied to areas of the body having skin wrinkles. When the mask is in position, the skin is stretched to a wrinkle-free position and the mask is molded over the skin to hold it in this position for a time interval during each beauty treatment. The device is particularly adaptable for use in correcting wrinkles about the face and eyes in which it is a simple matter to stretch the skin and press the clay material of the mask into a molded configuration about the eyes and hold the face in a wrinkle-less contour.
Accordingly it is an object of this invention to provide a beauty treatment mask.
A further object of this invention is to provide a beauty treatment mask having a moldable plastic material within the lining of the mask which may be molded to a desired configuration when the mask is in position over a surface of the body to aid the skin into a position in which it does not wrinkle.
A further object of the invention is to provide a facial mask which is simple in design, rugged in construction and economical to manufacture.
Fig. 2 is a transverse section through the mask when it is arranged in an open position;
Fig. 3 is a horizontal section taken on the line 3-3 of Fig. 1; and V Fig. 4 is an enlarged vertical section taken on the line 44 of Fig. 1.
Referring to the drawings in particular,,the invention as embodied therein includes a facial mask generally designated 10, shown in position on a woman 12 with drawstrings 14 tied at the rear of the womans head.
In accordance with the invention,-the mask may be simply made of two cloth liners, an inner one 16 and an outer one 18, which are spaced agart and filled with a plastic material 20; composed of a smooth fibrous cloth which is not lined, but, of course, suitable thin liners of materials such as plastic, rubber or the like may be bonded to the interior of these liners if desired to make the mask impervious to liquids.
In accordance with the invention, the plastic material 20 is preferably an oil-base clay such as a modeling clay of a type called plasteline, or it may be any suitable material having a high density and which may be molded under pressure to desired shapes, and which will retain its molded configuration until it is pressure-molded to another configuration.
The mask 10 is provided wtih two cut-outs 22 and 24 in areas corresponding to the eyes and cut-outs 26 and 28 in areas corresponding to the nose and mouth. Each of the cut- outs 22, 24, 26 and 28 are formed by doubling each of the liners 16 and 18 over in the areas involved and stitching as at 30 over the double material at that point (Fig. 3).
When the mask is applied to the face of the wearer, it may be tightened on the face and molded to a desired contour to aid the face in assuming such contour.
Referring to Fig. 4, areas of wrinkles of the face such as at A, B and C are molded into a wrinkle-less configuration and the mask maintained on the face for a considerable time in order to train the skin into wrinkle-free contour. This is accomplished by stretching the skin in the area of the wrinkles at A, B and C and pressing the molded material between the stretched skin to force the skin into a wrinkle-less condition. Since the moldable material body is of sufiicient density to retain its configuration, the space will be held in a wrinkle-less condition for the extent of the application of the beauty treatment mask.
If desired, the liners 1'6 and 18 of the mask may be made of a material which will permit the passage of liquid therethrough and the interior plastic material may be perfumed or provided wtih facial oils or other cosmetics to aid in the beauty treatment. Thus, the invention provides an extremely inexpensive facial beauty treatment mask which is readily adaptable to all types,
of beauty treatments. The mask may be made in other configurations to correct wrinkles on neck and shoulder areas, for example, if desired.
The mask is particularly useful for correcting so-called double chin by remolding the skin beneath the chin. All types of facial distortions such as bags under the eyes and bumps, and skin irregularities may be advantageously treated with the device.
While a specific embodiment of the invention has been shown and described in detail to illustrate the application of the invention principles, it is understood that the invention may be embodied otherwise without departing from such principles.
I claim:
1. A facial mask comprising two liners of pliable material connected along their ends, cut to the general con- In its simplest form the mask is tour of a persons face and having a separated hollow portion and .a moldable plastic material, capable of'being molded to a definite configuration and retain this configuration until it is remolded, positioned in the space between said liners.
2. A facial mask according to claim 1, wherein said material is an oil base clay.
3. A facial mask comprising two spaced liners of cloth material of the general configuration of a persons face and having cut-outs in areas corresponding to eyes, nose and mouth, and moldable dense material between said cloth liners, whereby to permit molding of the face into a wrinkle-free contour and retention with such wrinkle-free contour while the mask is held to the face.
4. A beauty bandage comprising two cloth layers separated by a dense moldable plastic material.
5. A facial mask according to claim 1, including string tying means for securing the mask in position to the face of the wearer.
