One object of the present invention is the provision of a device of the character described which constitutes a comfortably fitted, adjustable, washable outer protector for clothing and bedding, which will not bind and has no pins or the like, and which will not irritate reclining patients.

Another object of the present invention is the provision of a device of the character described which is so constructed as to permit a patient to don it without help and to remove -it easily, reclining or standing, in a few seconds, and which saves nurses and attendants time and labor because it makes emergency changing of bed linen and clothing unnecessary, and usually allows patients to change themselves any padding or the like worn beneath my new and improved diaper cover; said cover, not being a bloomer but still fully encompassing any padding or diaper worn beneath it, is more easily put on and taken off than a bloomer or ordinary panties.

A further object of the present invention is the provision of a device of the character described which is boilable and durable, and has no parts which might damage mechanical laundry equipment; it also is comfortable to wear, light in weight, and simple in'construction, so that it can be manufactured relatively inexpensively.

With the foregoing and other objects in View which will appear as the description proceeds, the invent-ion consists of certain novel details of construction and combinations of parts hereinafter more fully described and pointed out in the claim, it being understood that changes may be made in the construction and arrangements of parts without departing from the spirit of the invention as claimed.

Referring first to Figs. 1 and 2, the numeral 1 denotes sheet 1 has a reduced crotch portion 4 with curved edge sections 5 which are reinforced by strips 7. s

' The sheet 1 has a trapezoid-shaped front portion 10 and a substantially rectangular back portion 11. The ltrapezoid-shaped portion 10 is subdivided by a pair of parallel strips 12 into a substantially rectangular inner section and a pair of triangular outer sections 14. The strips 12 are attached to the outer side of the sheet 1 by means of parallel rows of stitches 17. Strips 20, which are continuations of the strips 7, and which-like the strips` 7-are Urshaped lin cross-section (Fig. 3), are .secured to the outer edges of the portions 10 and 11 by means of sewing or the like, 'as edge reinforcements, all

around said portions 10 and 11. A'l loop 21 preferably is provided-at the outer side ofthe portion 10, andan elastic band 22 is secured to the upper edge of the por tion 11, whichis somewhat pleated, so that it can be expanded when expanding the band 22. Long ribbons 23 are secured to, and extended from the outer corner sections o-f `the portion 11 at each end of the band 22, and snap fastener socket elements 24 are secured to the strips 2 0 along the vertical edges of the portion 11. Snap fastener ball elements 25, in registering alignment with the elements 24, are secured to the strips 12, so that the device can be closed on either side of the hips of the wearers body, thus enclosing the same like a panty. 27 and 28 are secured to the strips 7 and 20 respectively, so as to allow an adjustment of -the device around the wearers thighs.

When donning my new and improved diaper cover, the portion 4 is placed between the wearers legs, the portions 10 and 11 are pulled upwardly over the lower front and the back portions respectively of the wearers body, and the

24 and 25 are attached to each other along the wearers hips; then the ribbons 23 are extended around the wearers Waist, at least one of the ribbons 23 is passed through the loop 21, and the ribbons 23 are tied together as may be seen in Fig. l. When the device thus has been donned, the sections 14 and the portion 11 of the sheet 1 overlap each other.

According to the modification of Figs. 4, 5 and 6, a sheet 31 of the same material as the sheet 1 of Figs. 1 to 3 has an outer layer 32 of nylon or the like and an inner layer 33 of a waterproof material (Fig. 6). The sheet 31 has a crotch portion 34 as well as a trapezoidshaped front portion 35 and a trapezoid-shaped back portion 37. Triangular aps, each of which consists of a pair of small sheets and 41 of the same or of a similar material as the sheet 31, are attached to the lateral edges of the portion 35 by means of pairs of rows of stitches 42 (Fig. 6), and strips 43 cover at both sides the joint and are also attached by means of the rows of stitches 42 to the

A diaper cover panty comprising a sheet of fabric material having a reduced center portion and end portions of which one is-trapezoid-shaped while the other is rectangular; a water-proof layer bonded to one side of said sheet; parallel strips attached to the trapezoid-shaped portion of said sheet being extended from said crotch portion to the outer extremity of the trapezoid-shaped portion; subdividing the same into a pair of triangular sections and a rectangular section intermediate said triangular sections; fastening nieans provided on said strips and on the edges of the rectangular portion of said sheet being constructed and arranged for attaching said strips to edge portions of said rectangular portion so as to form a panty-like garment of 4which said trapezoid-shaped por.-
