1 Claim. (Cl. 83-436) This disclosure deals with a device or machine of my invention to serve as a corrugated paper dispenser.
This corrugated paper dispenser is built within a casing that houses all its component parts and contains the corrugated paper suspended on a roller that is supported by props aflixed to the inner sides of said casing. The corrugated paper is fed to the mechanism that ejects the corrugated paper as required. In this process the corrugated paper enters onto a series of rollers horizontally disposed. These rollers are connected to each other by a combination of pulleys keeping the corrugated paper in proper place. Among these rollers there is one that can be called the driving roller, which is situated at the center of the combination and is grooved to mesh with the corrugated surface of the paper. This driving roller is assisted by another roller, smooth surfaced, placed on top of it in such a way as to allow enough space for the corrugated paper to pass through and hold it there for the effective operation of the driving roller.
The driving roller is equipped with three small pulleys. Two of these pulleys are connected by belts to give motion to the lateral rollers. The pulley at the outside end is belt connected to a larger pulley which accelerates the motion of the driving roller. The hub of this larger pulley protrudes at one side of the casing and supports a handle. This handle serves to rotate the pulley and accelerate the driving roller, to which it is belt connected by its much larger circumference. These pulleys are belt connected together for hand operation. The larger pulley has at its side a small pulley mounted on the axle. The function of this small pulley is to be available when mechanical force is called for. In this case, this small pulley is belt connected to the driving roller and the large pulley is belt connected to the motor to divert speed.
A convex metal band affixed to the right inner side of the casing serves to house the bushing of the axle of these pulleys. All this mechanism has a counterclockwise movement drive and is designed to thrust the corrugated paper outward. To prevent reverse drive of the handle, a ratchet is used.
Once the length of the corrugated paper required is so drawn, by pressing a plunger that is placed on top of the cabinet, a knife or guillotine descends and cuts the paper. When pressure on the knob of the. plunger is released, the guillotine returns to its place for the next operation. The expansion spring supporting the plunger is encased in a bushing. The plunger that serves as a means of propulsion to impel the knife to fall, is adjusted to the rib of the guillotine. The expansion spring around the lower part of the plunger is secured to the rib of the guillotine and rests on the top of the casing and it is extended while the plunger and the knife are up. When pressure is put on the knob of the plunger, the spring naturally contracts, at the reverse of the springs supporting the guillotine, which springs expand. This force of contraction from one part and expansion from another. serves to give to the mechanism suflicient force to keep the guillotine and the plunger up at all times, except when their respective movements are required.
The guillotine or knife is suspended from the top of the casing by springs hanging from aplate affixed to the top. A guiding groove at either side of lateral prongs of the blade assures a straight path for blade movement. For the knife to perform the function of cutting, there is a slot through which the knife passes just grazing a I plate aflixed to the small platform preceding the emergence of corrugated paper from the cabinet. The blade or guillotine is made with an extension at either end as prongs, which prongs are of suflicient length as to be within the slot at all times and serving to help guide the guillotine in its downward and upward movement.
The housing for bushings supporting all the roller axles is built on a metal block and placed at each inner side of the casing. Where the bushing supporting the upper rollers axle is located, av cutout is made, leaving a space. From the upper part of the block taken from the cutout, a piece of metal is cut equivalent to the amount of play the roller is going to have. The lower part of the block containing half of the bushing forms a saddle which is replaced. This arrangement forms a chamber at the top part of the saddle. Through the upper part of the housing block a boring is made, and an expansion spring is fitted through this boring, which passes through the empty chamber and rests on top of the saddle. The upperroller will have ample play when pressurized from below. A pressure screw is fitted at the top of the boring to keep the spring in place.
The casing housing this mechanism is built with all its parts to meet the different widths of corrugated paper and therefor, its dimensions are proportionate thereto.
This corrugated paper dispenser can be built of wood and metal, all metal, plastics or any other material suited for the purpose.
To give a better idea of the practicability of this corrugated paper dispenser, reference is made to the accompanying drawings in which Figs. 1, 2, 4, 5 and 7 are perspective views with Fig. 3 being a side view and Fig. 6 a cross section.

Figure 6 presents a set of differential pulleys afiixed to the inner side of the casing, having a shaft whose prolonged hub protrudes out of the casing side supporting a handle. This combination of pulleys is encased on a metal plate giving support to the axle and containing also blocks of metal to house the corresponding bushlngs.
Figure 7 presents a casing with door closed and slot in upper door where corrugated paper is emerging. Plunger, hinges, knobs and handle.
A detailed description of the drawings offers a better acquaintance with the corrugated paper dispenser of my invention. At the front view, Fig. 1, casing housing all the mechanism. At the center of the casing is the roll of corrugated paper 1; which is supported on a roller 2; that extends the width of said casing and is 3 supported at the sides by a dented block in shape of a U 3; having borings at the side to pass through a pin 4; that prevents the roller 2 from jumping out of the U block. The tip end of the corrugated paper can be seen entering the series o'f rollers 6 and 22; of these rollers only one appears here and this one is the assistant of the driving roller, of loc'o roller 6; what can be seen also is the corrugated paper 7; reaching the slot 8; where the knife will exercise its function of cutting, also seen is the part of the guillotine in its upperposition 9'; and the lateral prongs of the knife 10"; it shows also the narrow platform running the width of the cabinet 11; and supporting the plate 12; part of the guillotine arrangement. To the right is shown a frontal view of the arrangement of pulleys connecting the lower rollers 22 and 15; which function is to add motion to the ejection mechanism. At the side of the casing is located the handle 14; supported by the axle hub of the driving pulley 35; the plunger 16 is located at the'top of casing. Expansion spring in the plunger 17; contraction springs in the guillotine 18; guillotine blade 19; with setting slots 29; adjustable to rib by butterfly screws; also plate supporting guillotine to the ceiling of casing 21; assistant lateral rollers 22; the housing for the bushings supporting all the rollers axles are built on the metal block 23; supported on each side of the casing; on the housing block a cutout is made 24; the upper part of this cutout, by removing a piece of metal, leaves an empty chamber 25; the lower part of the cutout forms a saddle on top of the axle of roller 6; this saddle has half mechanism gives way by contracting the spring 28; when 1 pressure is released the expansion spring 28; throws back the saddle 24; to proper position by expanding. On Fig. 7 is seen plunger 16; hub of the pulley 3:5; handle 14; paper emerging from slot on door 31; hinges 32; knobs 33; this corrugated paper dispenser although it appears to be designed to service corrugated paper finished on one side, can also service corrugated paper finished on both sides, the center assistant roller 6; which supports the corrugated paper against the driving roller 15; is provided with adjustable mechanism Fig. 4. The rollers 6, 15, and 22 are suitably mounted in bushings 6', 15' and 22 as shown in Fig. 4.
The rollers may be covered by rubber sleeves if desired. The drawings are just illustrative for comprehension. When assembling, all parts will take their proper places and adjustments. Various changes may be made in the steps of method herein disclosed and in the details of construction and arrangement of parts without departing fromthe spirit of the invention or sacrificing any advantages thereof inherent therein.
What I desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
A corrugated paper dispenser comprising a casing having laterally-spaced side walls and a front opening through which a roll of corrugated paper may be disposed in the casing, a roller for supporting the corrugated paper roll, means for removably and rotatably supporting the roller between the side walls of the casing, feed roller supporting blocks respectively mounted on the respective side walls of the casing above the paper roller and in opposing relationship to one another, each of said feed roller supporting blocks having three longitudinallyspaced feed roller bearing openings and a cutout elevated above the intermediate bearing opening and having a half bearing saddle in the bottom thereof, a small block vertically slidable in the cutout and having a half bearing saddle in the lower face thereof cooperating with the cutout bearing saddle to provide full bearing openings, three feed rollers extending between and journaled in the longitudinally-spaced feed roller bearing openings with their upper edges in a substantially horizontal plane, the intermediate roller being ribbed to receive the corrugations of the paper, and an idler roller extending between and journaled in the saddle bearing openings directly above the intermediate ribbed roller, biasing means on the feed roller supporting blocks acting against the small saddle blocks to maintain pressure upon the idler roller and the paper in the ribbed roller, pulley drive means connected to and between the feed rollers to turn the rollers and feed the paper and means extending across the front opening for severing the paper as it is fed therefrom in said horizontal plane.
