Description
(N ModeL) E. J. ROUX & L. U. PATIO.
WATCH REGULATOR.
INVENTOR ATTORNE UNTTET) EEK EST JAGQ ES ROUX AND LOUIS ERIEL FATIO, OF GENEVA, SlVITZER- LAND, ASSIGNOES TO YAGHERGK BTTIX, OF SAME PLACE.
WATCH LATO SPEGZFICATION forming part of Letters Patent ".rlo. $51,780, dated January 8, 188 1.
Application filed October 19, 1883. (No model.)
i" 0 all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that we, Enxnsr Jaoovns RoUX and Lows URIEL FATIO, both of Ge neva, Switzerland, have invented a new and Improved \Vatch-Regulator, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.
The object of our invention is to provide a new and im roved device for adjusting the hairspring regulator of a watch very finely and accurately.
The invention consists of the several combinations and arrangements of parts, substantially as hereinafter fullyset forth and claimed.
Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawings, forming part of this specification, in which similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts in all the figures.
Figure 1 is a plan view of our improved watch-regulator. Fig. 2 is a longitudinal sectional elevation of the same on the line 1* .70, Fig. 1. 3 is a side view of the plates for holding the adjustingscrew, showing the toothed wheel removed. Fig. i is a like view, showing the toothed wheel in place. Fig. 5 is a longitudinal sectional view, showing the manner in which the screw-spindle is held.
The arbor of the fiy-wheel or balance-whcel A is held in the end of a bridge, 13, fastened to the bed-plate of the works in the usual manner. The end of the spiral spring C, for operating the fly or balance wheel, is held between two prongs, D, projecting from one end of a pivoted index-lever, E, which is provided at the opposite end, on its bottom surface, with a knifecdge, E, which rests in the thread of the screw-spindle The bridge B is provided with a scale, G, in the usual manner. The screw-spindle B is provided at one end with a small toothed head or wheel, H, and the bridge is providedwith a transverse groove, I, for receiving the spindle. A semicircular plate, J, is provided at the end with two prongs, J and J of which the latter is provided with arecess, a, for receiving the toothed wheel H. The letters F and S, or their equivalents, are stamped or otherwise produced on the ends of the prong J each side of the recess a. The plate J is provided with two pins, K, projecting from its under side. A like semicircular plate, L, is provided at each end with a prong, forming a hook, 31, adapted to passaround the thinner ends of the screwspindle R. The plate L is provided with apertures, through which the pins K can pass. The ends of the screw-spindle R are placed in the hooks 1i, and the plate J is placed on the plate L, so that the screw-spindle will be held between the hooks Id and the plate J, the toothed wheel or head H passing into the recess a, as stated. The plates J and L are then placed on the rear end of the bridge, and are secured on the bridge by the pins K, pass ing into suitable apertures in the bridge, and by screws 0, screwed. through the plates J L and the rear end of the bridge. As the knifeedge E of the pointer or indicator E rests in the threads of the screw-spindle It, the end of the pointer can be moved laterallythat is, toward either side of the bridgeb v turning the toothed. wheel or head H in either one direction or the other. The pointer or indicater will be moved a greater or less distance, according to the pitch of the screw.
By means of the above-described device the indicator or pointer can be adjusted very linely and nicely, for by turning the head or wheel H the distance of one tooth the pointer will be moved a distance which is so minute that itcould not be adjusted by hand, as in the usual regulators.
Having thus described our invention, what we claim as new, and desire to secu re by Letters Patent, is
1. In a watch-regulator, the combination, with a pointer-lever, of the screw-spindle, with its ends held between the semicircular plates, said spindle having a toothed head or wheel arranged in a recess of one of said plates, substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
2. In a watch-regulator, the combination, with a pointer-lever, of the plate J, the plate L, provided with hooks Id )1, and the screwspindle 12, having its ends held between the plate J and the hooks M, substantially as herein shown and d scribed, and for the purpose set forth.
3. In a watch-regu-lator, the combination, with the plate J, having two prongs, J J of which the latter is provided with a recess, a, of the plate L, provided with the hooks H, the screw-spindle it, held between the plate J and the hooks hi, and the toothed wheel or head H, mounted on the end of the screw-spindle, plate J and the hooks M, and of the toothed and fitting in the recess a in the plate J, subwheel or head H on the end of the spindle R, stantially as herein shown and described, and substantially as herein shown and described,
for the purpose set forth. and for the purpose set forth.
5 4. In a watch-regulator the combination r with the pointer-lever E, o f the plate J pro vided with prongs J J of which the latter has a recess, a, the pins K, projecting from Witnesses: the plate J, the plate L, provided with hooks DAVID VAROU,
IO M, of the screw-spindle R, held between the J. A. PAGET.
