(Cl. 312-310) My invention relates toimprovements in doll houses and has for its primary object the provision of a doll house in which the dolls as well as the dolls interior and exterior clothing may be neatly stored.

A further object of my invention is the provision of a device of the class above described which is provided with a plurality of compartments including a chest of drawers and which is provided with handle means whereby same may be readily transported in the manner of a suitcase.

A still further object of my invention is the provision of a device of the class immediately above described which comprises a floor, upstanding side walls, a rear wall, a top wall, and a pair of cooperating sliding dooracting panels mounted for sliding movements in the open front end thereof, a vertical partition dividing the interior of said house into a pair of forwardly opening compartments, a chest of forwardly opening drawers in the rear portion of one of said compartments, said drawers having a transverse width corresponding approximately to the width of said one compartment and having a greater length from front to rear thereof than the distance from the front of said chest to the plane of said door-acting panels, one of said panels in all positions of sliding movement thereof overlapping said one of said compartments and preventing complete removal of said drawers from said chest.

A further object of my invention is the provision of a device of the class described which by virtue of its construction is conducive to tidiness and which may thus be used to instruct a child in maintaining tidiness.

A further object of my invention is the provision of a device of the class described which is inexpensive to produce, which is extremely light in weight, and which is rugged and durable in construction.

The above and still further objects of my invention will become apparent from the following detailed specification, appended claims and attached drawings.

Referring to the drawings wherein like characters indicate like parts throughout the several views:

Fig. 1 is a view in perspective of my novel doll house as seen from the front thereof, some parts being broken away and some parts shown in section;

Fig. 2 is a sectional view taken on the line 2-2 of Fig. 1 on a slightly reduced scale; and

Fig. 3 is a fragmentary sectional view taken on the line 3-3 of Fig. 2.

Referring with greater particularity to the drawings, the numeral 1 indicates the bottom wall or floor of my novel house, the

numerals

2 and 3 the opposite side walls thereof, the numeral 4 the rear wall, and 5 the top wall or roof. As shown, the roof 5 is preferably provided with a strap-like handle 6 to facilitate carriage in the manner of a suitcase or the like. The

United States Patent 0 It will be observed by reference to Fig. 3 that each of the

8, 9 is provided with a knob 8a and 9a respectively which project forwardly from their outer surfaces. The knob 8a is so positioned that when the inner side edge 16 of the panel 9 comes into engagement therewith, the opposite edge portion 17 thereof will still overlap or project into the compartment 13, for an important purpose which will now be explained in detail.

It will be noted thatportions of the wall 3, rear wall 4 and the vertical partition 15 cooperate to define in part a chest of drawers 18 in the rear portion of the compartment 13, said chest having a plurality of forwardly opening drawers 19. The width of the drawers 19 corresponds approximately to the width of the compartment 13; whereas the length of said drawers 19 from front to rear is greater than the distance from the front of the chest 18 to the plane of the

8, 9 and particularly to the plane of the panel 9. Thus, even when the

panels

8, 9 are slid to their extreme limit of movement from left to right with respect to Fig. 1, it is impossible to totally remove the drawers 19 from the chest 18 by virtue of engagement of the front members 20 thereof with the side edge portion 17 of the panel 9. This is important in that it prevents the child from completely removing the several drawers 19 and dumping their contents about the room in which the doll house A has been placed.

It will be noted that the compartment 14 is provided with an angular hanger rod 21 which is secured at one end to the top wall 5 and at its opposite end to the rear wall 4. The hanger rod 21 may obviously be used to hang exterior and interior garments of the dolls on miniature hangers or the like.

My novel device is highly useful in the training of a child in tidiness and orderliness, the drawers 19 of the chest 18 serving to neatly store the inner garments of dolls and other sundry items; whereas for the purpose of temporary or relatively permanent storage, the unfilled forward portions of the

compartments

13 and 14 may be used for the storage of the dolls themselves.

My invention has been thoroughly tested and found to be completely satisfactory for the accomplishment of the above objects and while I have shown a preferred embodiment thereof, I wish it to be specifically understood that same may be capable of modification without departure from the scope and spirit of the appended claims.

What I claim is:

1. A doll house comprising a floor, upstanding side walls, a rear wall, a top wall, and a pair of cooperating sliding door-acting panels mounted for sliding movements in the open front end thereof, a vertical partition dividing the interior of said house into a pair of forwardly opening compartments, a chest of forwardly opening drawers in the rear portion of one of said compartments, said drawers having a transverse width corresponding approximately to the width of said one compartment and having a greater. length from front to rear thereof than the distance from the front of said chest to the plane of said dooracting panels, one of said panels in all positions of sliding movement thereof overlapping said one of said compartments and preventing complete removal of said drawers from said chest.

2. The structure defined in claim 1 in which one of the side walls, the rear wall and said vertical partition comprise the enclosing sides of said chest of drawers.
