L. WOLF..
TOILET CASE. l l No. 279,302. Patented June 12,1883.
WITNESSBS: A INVBNTOR ATTORNEY N. PETERS. Pmxmhugmpher. washington. D, C.
UNITED 4STATES PATENT-1 OFFICE.
LEOPOLD wOLF, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
TOILET-CASE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters :Patent No. 279,302, dated-June 12, 1883.
' Applicationled March31,v1883. (No model.)
To a/ZZ whom it may concern Be it known that I, LEOPOLD WOLF, of the city, county, and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Toilet-Gases, of which the following is a specification.:
This -invention has reference to an improved toilet-case in which one or more reversible panels are employed that form the supports for a mirror at one side, and a tray for brush and comb or other articles at the other side; and the invention consists of a case, of suitable shape and size, provided with a centrally-pivoted reversible panel carrying a mirror at one side and a tray for suitable toilet articles at the other side, and with means for locking the panel in position after the same has been reversed.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 represent-s a perspective view of my improved toilet-case. Fig. 2 is a perspective view of the same with the panel reversed and the bottom drawer drawn out, and Figs. 3 and 4 are respectively a vertical transverse section and a horizontal section of the same.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresp Onding parts. l
Ain the drawings represents a toilet-case of any suitable size, shape, and nish. The case is provided with a straight or inclined front,
. and with or without a base-drawer, B.
The front ofthe case A, and, if desired, also the back of the same, is provided with an openl ing of suitable size for a reversible panel, C, that is centrally pivoted at two opposite sides to the front or back, and provided with suitable means by which thereversible panel@ is locked in position, whatever side be exposed tov view.`
The locking device by which the panel C is held in position may be a pivoted strip, D, that is acted upon by band-springs d, and pressed thereby laterally, so as to abut against the back of the panel, as shown in Fig. 4. rlhe strip D is provided with a button or stud, e, that projects through a slot of 011e of the walls of the case A, so that when the button e is pressedsidewise or pulled out.the pivoted strip D is swung clear of the panel C, which is then turned through an angle of one hundred and eighty degrees on its center pivots into reversed position, so that one side or the other of the same is brought to the front of the panel, as desired. i
I prefer to apply a beveled mirror or a detachable hand-mirror to one side of the reversible panel C, and a tray with a comb and brush or other articles to the other side thereof, as shown, respectively, in Figs. 1 and 2.
The comb, brush, o r other articles are retained by means of bent metal springs f, which are secured to raised blocks j", as shown in Figs. 3 and 4.
The bottom drawer, B, is provided with a lock, and serves for the storage of watches, jewelry, and other articles.
The toilet-case forms a very ornamental article for the dressing-bureau, the comb and brush being at the inside and the mirror at the outside of the panel when not in use. For use the panel is reversed, and the brush and comb removed therefrom for use. They are replaced after use, when the panel is reversed again, so
as to expose the mirror to view.
A suitable handle or handles applied to the top or ends serve for conveniently carrying the toilet-case.
side and a tray for a comb and brush or other articles at the other side, and with means whereby the panel is locked into position after being reversed, substantially as set forth.
3. The combination, with toilet-case, of a centrally-pivoted reversible panel, and with a pivoted and spring-pressed locking-strip provided with a projecting button, whereby the panel is locked or released, substantially as and for the purpose specified.
VIn testimony that I claim the foregoing as my invention I have signed my name in presence of two subscribing witnesses.
LEOPOLD WOLF.
Vitnesses LINA VOL'F, FRIEDERIKE MLLER.
