UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE- BENJAMIN F. MONG, OF MILES GROVE, PENNSYLVANIA.
lRONlNG-BOARD.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 277,324, dated May 8, 1883.,
Application filed January 4, 1883. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, BENJAMIN F. MoNG, a citizen of the United States, residing at Miles Grove, in the county of Erie and State of Pennsylvania, have invented a new and useful Ironing-Board, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings.
This invention relates to ironing-tables, and has for its object to provide a simple and convenient table or stand which may be conveniently folded into small space when not in use, as will be hereinafter fully described, and particularly pointed out in the claim.
In the drawings hereto annexed, Figure 1 is a perspective view of my improved ironingtable extended and ready for use. longitudinal vertical sectional view 'of the same. Fig. 3 is a side view of the table folded, and Fig. 4 is a bottom view of the same.
The same letters refer to the same parts in all the figures.
A in the drawings represents the ironingboard, which is secured in recesses B in a pair of brackets, G O, projecting rearwardly from the said board. To the outer sides of said brackets 0, near their rear ends, are hinged a pair of legs, D D, the upper ends of which are connected by a cross-piece, E,- while a round, F, serves to connect the said legsD near their Upon the inner sides of the brackets 0, just rear of the ironingboard',-are hinged a pair of legs, G G, connected by roundsH H. The upper ends of the legs G are provided with notches I I, to receive the cross-piece E at the upper end of the leg-frame D. The said crosspiece E, when theleg-frame D is extended, rests closely on top of and firmly against the upper Fig. 2 is a' side of the brackets O O, the rear ends of which are beveled or rounded, as shown at J, so as to permit the leg-frame to be extended or folded at will.
The operation and advantages of my invention will be readily understood from the foregoing description, taken in connection with the drawings hereto annexed. It is simple, convenient, and inexpensive. The leg-frames will both fold under the ironing-board, thus reducing the device to a very small size when it is desired to pack it away. To extend it for use, it is only necessary to extend the legframes until the cross-piece E will enter and rest in the notches Iof thelegs G. Said notches will prevent the accidental displacement of the frame D, and hold the device securely when extended. v
I claim as my invention and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States As an improvement in ironing-tables, the
combination of the board A, the brackets (J 0, having recesses B, in which said board is s'ecured, and having their rear ends beveled or rounded at J, the legs G, pivoted to the inner sides of the bracket 0, and having notches I at their upper ends, and the legs D, hinged to the outer sides of the brackets C, and having their upper ends connected by a cross-piece,
E, adapted to rest in the notches I of legs G, substantially asset forth.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing as my own I have hereto affixed my signature in presence of two witnesses.
BENJAMIN FRANKLIN MON G. Witnesses:
H. P. SULLIVAN, J. R0131. HALL.
