Description

(No Model.)
F.v SLATER.
DENTAL BRACKET.
Patented May 1, 1883.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
FRANK SLATER, OF GUTHRIE CENTRE, IOWA.
DENTAL BRACKET.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 276,637, dated May 1, 18 83.
and folded flat against the wall and out of the way when not in use.
Figure 1 of my accompanying drawings is a side view of my bracket applied to awall. Fig. 2 is a perspective view. Together these figures clearly illustrate the construction, ap-
plication, and operation of my complete invention.
"a is a revolving angular bar secured to the wall in a vertical position by means of fixed bearings b b.
1 No. 1 represents a skeleton frame and arm that has mortises in the rear ends of its upper and lower portions, 0 and a, through which the bar a extends.
d is a vertical post or brace in the rear part ot'ntghe skeleton arm.
d is a mortise in the post d. r
i f is an elbow-shaped lever that extends through the mortise d in the post d. V
y f is a mortise in the end of the leverf, that admits the lever to he slipped over the bar a with the skeleton arm 0.
g is an elbow-shaped lever and eccentric pivoted in the front and free end of theskeleton arm No. 1, and flexibly connected with the free end of the lever f by means of a rod, h.
i is a pin projecting downward from the top portion of the skeleton arm No. 1, to restrict the upward movement of the lever No. 2 is a second skeletonarm, pivoted to Application filed September 12, 1882. (S0 model.)
the front end of tbearm No. 1 by means of a pin and socket, or in any suitable way.
No. 3 represents a revolving tray or case adapted to retain dental instruments detachably connected with the front and free end of the arm No. 2 by means of a journal and journal-bearing.
The revolving bar a and the skeleton arms Nos. 1 and 2, and the case No. 3 and the locking device may be made of wood or metal.
To retain the complete bracket at any elevation desired on the revolving bar a, I simply operate the lever g to thereby adjust and lock the lever f in an inclined position, so as to cause it to bind upon the bar and clamp. the complete bracket fast to the bar. To unlock I make a reverse motion with the lever gand its eccentric, as required to bring the leverf into a horizontal level and right-angled r square position relative to the bar a and complete bracket; and when the leverf is in this position the complete bracket can be readily raised and lowered by sliding it up and down on the bar a, to be locked and retained at any point of elevation desired by the operator.
I claim as my invention- 1. In an adjustable bracket, the locking device f gh, in combination with a skeleton arm having a pin or step, i, and a vertical bar, a, substantially as shown and described, to operate in the manner set forth, for the purposes specified.
. 2. The improved dental or wall bracket composed of the revolving bar a, skeleton arm or frame No. 1, locking device f g h 'i, pivoted arm No. 2, and revolving caseor tray No. 3, substantiallyas shown and described, for the purposes specified.
