1 Claim. c1. 81-6) I The present invention relates to new and useful improvements in watchcase tools for use inremoving the backs of waterproof watches which are threaded onto the case and for other purposes where a tool having adjustable jaws isuseful. I

An important object of the invention is to provide a tool having a fixed jaw and a slidable jaw secured in an adjusted position relativeto the fixed jaw and forming each jaw with parallel spanner wrench extensions adapted for engaging notches or recesses in the back of a watchcase to facilitate removal thereof. Another objectis to provide a tool of this character of simple and practical construction, which is efiicient and reliable in operation, relatively inexpensive to manufacture and otherwise well adapted forthe purpose for which the same is intended.

These together with other" objects and advantages which will become subsequently apparent reside inthe details of construction and operation as more fully hereinafter described and claimed, reference being had to the accompanying drawings forming a, part hereof, wherein like secured in a recess 7 in the top of a transverse stationary gripping jaw 8 which has its end p0rtions.9 and 10 projecting outwardly at the opposite side edges of the bar.

The bar 6 isformed with a longitudinalslot 11 adjacent the stationary jaw 8 and in which a threaded stud 12 is slidable. The lower end of the stud is threaded or otherwise fixed in a movable gripping jaw 13 which' extends transversely of bar 6 and parallel to jaw 8 and a nut 14 is threaded on the upper end of the stud and is tightened against the top of the bar by a handle 15 extending transversely through the upper portion of the nut.

In the operation of the tool, the rear end of bar 6 forms a handle 21 and jaw 13'is adjusted to fit the

From the foregoing, the construction and operation .of the device will be readily understood and further explanation is believed to be unnecessary. However, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the invention to the exact construction shown and described, and accordingly, all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the appended claim.

What is claimed as'new is as follows:

A watchcase tool comprising: afiat bar having a longitudinal slot in one end portion, a transversely elongated stationary gripping jaw secured on one side of said one end portion of said bar and projecting laterally beyond the longitudina'ledges thereof, a transversely elongated movable gripping jaw mounted for longitudinal adjustment on said one side of the bar and projecting laterally beyond the longitudinal edges thereof, said movable jawtraversing the slot and being opposed to and cooperable with said stationary jaw, a stud threadedly mounted in the movable jaw and operable in the slot, a nut comprising an operating handle, threaded on said stud and engageable with the bar for frictionally securing the movable jaw in adjusted position, and parallel spanner jaws integral with one end of the gripping jaws and extending therefrom at right angles to the bar, said gripping jaws having recesses therein accommodating the bar for positively retaining said gripping jaws against turning thereon.
