INVENTOR. Vi'nceni' Paaggw United States Patent DRYING APPARATUS Vincent Piazza, Swoyersville, Pa.
Application February 6, 1953, Serial No. 335,509
1 Claim. (CI. 34-91) This invention relates to a drying apparatus and more particularly to an attachment adapted to be used with the conventional hair drier for drying curlers, rods and similar implements used in hair waving. After each customers hair is waved it is necessary to Wash and clean the curlers and other implements used in waving the hair. In the past it has been customary to wash these and place them in a towel to dry.
An object of this invention is to provide an attach ment in which the waving implements may not only be washed but also dried and sterilized utilizing the heat of the conventional drier.
Other objects and advantages of the invention will appear from the accompanying drawings in which Fig. 1 is a plan view partly in section showing my attachment on a conventional drier.
Fig. 2 is a perspective view of the tray for holding the articles to be dried.
Fig. 3 is a plan view of my invention.
Referring more particularly to the drawings I show in Fig. 1 a conventional drier which has a more or less conical hood. My attachment consists of an annular basin or pan with a body portion 16. The body portion is provided with ventilating openings 17 to allow the escape of air or steam and with supporting members 18 and 19. The supporting member 18 is generally U-shaped in form having arms 20 and 21 and a cross-member 22 which is covered by rubber or similar material to prevent scratching the hood 10. The arms 20 and 21 may be riveted to the body 16 2,705,841 Patented Apr. 12, 1955 'ice as shown at 23 or may be formed integrally therewith. The support 19 likewise consists of two arms 25 and 26 with a cross-member 27. The arms 25 and 26 are ofiset at 28 and the cross-member 27 is provided with a clamping screw 29 which is provided with a rubber button 30. In the body 16 there is provided a drainage tray 31 which snugly fits inside the container 16. The tray 31 is provided 'with a screen bottom 32 and a collapsible handle 33. While the tray fits snugly it may be removed in order to clean the container 16. However, it preferably fits sufiiciently snugly to allow the washing of the implements within the container without the tray falling out.
It will be seen that due to the adjustability of the screw 29 my attachment will adapt itself to different sized hoods and because of the ofiset 28 it can be attached to any commercial drier by simply adjusting the screw by means of the knob 35.
I claim:
A drier for haircurling instruments comprising a body portion, annular shaped, conforming generally to the conventional drier hood and having a solid bottom, ventilated openings in the side of the body, a tray removably positioned in said body to space the instruments to be dried from the bottom of the body and a pair of upwardly extending arms to engage the outside walls of the hood of a conventional drier, one of said pair of arms being ofiset to accommodate hoods of different diameters and having adjustable means to clamp the drier to the outside wall of the hood.
