(Cl. 1603li) This invention relates to guides for the draw cords for curtains, and has particular reference to a guiding device which is detachably and easily fitted to a curtain rod and which will smoothly and easily guide the draw-cords to enable the same to eifectively cause closing and opening movements of the curtain.
An object of the invention is to provide a guiding device of this character which can be very easily fabricated from metal or other suitable material; which can be readily afiixed in position on a curtain rod, and which will properly guide the draw-cords to permit a smooth operation of the same and the curtains controlled thereby.

Referring to the drawings, and particularly to the embodiment of the invention shown in Figs. 2, e, 5 and 6, a curtain rod of known construction is disclosed at H). The same is of the fiat type,

When the guide members are fitted in position in the ends of the curtain rod, they can be readily maintained in such ends by being confined between the hooks i4 and the bend 40 in the rod.
The guide members It may be easily fabricated from a single strip of sheet metal, or formed of plastic if desired. These guide members enable the draw-cords to smoothly slide through their eyeletted apertures and the use of pulleys or rollers usually employed in draw-curtain constructions is thus obviated.
In the embodiment of the invention shown in Fig. 3, a plate member 39 is provided at one end of a strip Lil, said plate member 30 constituting the base or anchoring plate for the uide member, and bein thus similar in function to that shown at 16. A long curved arm 32 extends from one edge of the plate member til, said arm being provided with a widened portion 33 substantially close to the plate member 38. Eyeletted guide apertures 3 are provided in the plate 33. At the free end of the long arm 32 is formed an enlargement 35 which is angularly disposed and is iormed with the eyeletted apertures 39. In this embodiment of the invention, the greater portion of the arm 32 including the enlargements 33 and 35 is located out of the channel it and thus disposed on the inner side of the curtain rod, and the draw-cords are extended through the apertures 38 and 34 and the curtain operated in the manner explained in conjunction with the first embodimerit of the invention.
The two embodiments of the invention thus far described suggest that the guiding device he made from flat stock or possibly made from strip material. In the embodiment shown in Fig. 7, the guiding device is shown as being formed from a single piece of springy wire. This device is formed with the two springy leg portions ll and 42 which normally tend to spring apart slightly to thus frictionally engage the interior of the channel of the curtain rod. The leg d! is provided at one end with the guide loop as, corresponding to one of the apertures 22 and 3 3, while the end of the leg 52 is provided with a guide loop at corresponding to the second guiding aperture 22 and 35. At their opposite ends the legs Ill and 52 are integrally joined in a double loop or figure-8 formation to thus provide the two loops 45 and at correspondin in function to the guidin apertures 26 and 36.
The several guiding devices herein described are such as can be inexpensively constructed and applied to curtain rods of known construction, thus converting such rods from supports for immovable curtains to rods which enable draw eurtains to be employed upon them.
Having described several embodiments of the invention, it is obvious that the same is not to be restricted thereto, but is broad enough to cover all structures coming within the scope of the annexed claims.
What we claim is:
1. A guiding device for curtain draw-cords and for application to, a curtain rod of the channel type, said guiding device composed of a length of springy wire having two springy leg portions adapted to be fitted in the channel of the rod, each of said leg portions being provided at one end with a cordguiding loop, the two legs being integrally connected at their opposite ends into a double loop providing two cord-guiding loops, the double loop and the loops at the opposite ends of the legs being located outside of the channel in the rod.
2. A guiding device for curtain draw-cords and for application to a curtain rod of the channel type, said guiding device consisting of a single elongated strip member having a widened plate portion closely fitting within the channel of the curtain rod and confined in said channel, a single curved arm integrally formed on and projecting from said wide plate portion and bein partly disposed outside of the channel and located at the back of the curtain rod, said curved arm being provided with a pair of enlargements also located on the outside of the rod, each of said enlargements being provided with a plurality of cord-guiding apertures.
3. A guiding device for curtain draw-cords and for application to a curtain rod or the channel type, said guiding device consisting of a single, elongated strip member having a widened plate portion at each end, said plate portions being connected by a narrower strip, the greater portion of said strip being disposed in the channel of the rod, the enlargements at the ends of said strip bein disposed externally oi the rod and at the hack of the same and having apertures through which a pull-cord is disposed, and a plate portion of a width fitting within the channel of the rod located on the strip between the enlargements thereof and fitted within the channel of the rod.
4. A guiding device for curtain draw-cords and for application to a curtain rod of the channel type, said guiding device consisting of a single flat strip having an enlarged head at one end fitting within the channel of the rod and confined therein, the remainder of the strip being disposed on the outside oi the channel and at the back of the rod, said exposed portion of the strip being provided with a pair of enlargements having apertures for curtain draw-cords, one of said enlargements being located at the free end or" the strip.
5. A guiding device for curtain draw-cords and adapted for application to a curtain rod of the channel type, a guiding device consisting of a member having an enlarged part fittin within the channel of the rod and confined therein, arm portions at the opposite ends of the enlarged part extending out or" the channel, said arm portions being provided at their outer ends with apertures for the reception of draw-cords.
