2 Claims.
The present application relates to fishingrand hunting clothing. and especially to creels: and
game pockets and attachments therefore.
A purpose of the invention is to mounta game pocket to a coatat an access'openingby slide fasteners of opposite character and to detach the game pocket and close the inlet openingto the game I pocket by. the same slide fasteners which accomplish the attachment to the coat.
A furtherpurpose is -to provide an extension on a'creel or game pocket beyond the inlet open ing and; to removablyi interconnect the creel or the like to. the coatwat the upper end of the-extension, detaching the creel from the coat so that it can; trailbelowthe coat and suitably be Wet by. water in which afisherman is wading,
Further purposesappear in thespecification and=in the claims.
In thedrawings I have chosen to illustrate one only of the numerous embodiments in. which myinvention may" appear, selecting the forms shown from the standpoints of convenience in illustration; satisfactoryoperationand clear-demonstrationof the principles involved.
Figure 1 is a front elevation of acoat orthe like to :which the invention has been applied.
Figure 2 is a rear elevation of the coat of" Fig.- ure. 1.
Figure 3 is' a front elevation of the coatof Figure 1, with one side opened to show the insideand' the creel partially detached from the coat.
Figure 4 is a fragmentary view corresponding to the right' side of Figure 3, showing: the coat without thecreel, which has ibeen detached.
Figure 5 is a fragmentary enlarged section on the line 5--5 of Figure 4; adding the creel-not shown in Figure 4;
Figure 6 is an elevationshowing thein'side of the creel detached from the coat.
Figure '7 is an outside elevation of the creel of Figure 6 with the flap partially turned back.
Figure 8 is a fragmentary perspective of the creel of the invention partially closed at the inlet opening.
In the drawings like numerals refer to like parts throughout.
In fishing and hunting coats and the like it is usual to provide receptacles to receive fish and game. These have desirably been made detachable. Once a creel or game pocket is detached from a coat, for example, to serve as a separate container for fish or game, it is important to be able to close the creel or game pocket, to avoid loss of the catch and to avoid leakage of blood 2: or the like from" the interior. In accordance with the. present? invention it has" been found possible to connect-the creel or the like to the coat by slide-fasteners which are detachable,
-. and. to'use-thesameslide fasteners to close the entrance to the game pocket.
Anz'extensiorr isprovided on the creel or the like, and thecextension is'normally held in horizontal: position by engagement of. a hook. with the coat: When, however; it is desired to have the creeltrail, for example sothat fish can remainin the wateras the fisherman wades in shallow-water fishing,- it-is possible according to the invention to detach the-fastener between the creel extension and the coat, gallowing this portionto hang: down, while at the same time maintaining engagement between the coat and the creel atrthe inlet; opening.
In'the drawings-Ii show a coat 28 suitably of sleevelessvariety havingfront panels 25, a back 22; a"; neck opening- 23, sleeve openings 24, a central; front slide fastener closure 25, lower front pockets 26, upper pockets 2-! and 28 and anattachmenti'ring w all'as well known in the arts The back hasra netting panel 3! for ventilation. Atthe bottom of the back an elongated pocket 32 extends clear across the back, and access isobtained-through the pocket open ing 33:. at'xone end-closed by cooperating slide fasteners-34L On the' insideof' the coat, and suitably at the leftside. aw creel 35 isprovided consisting of a generally. rectangular inner. panel 38 suitably of waterproof fabric to protect the body of the wearer against liquids, and a correspondingouter side" 31, consisting of waterproof fabric 38 at the upper portion-and netting- 39 at thelower portion; Thetwo. sides are joined at the bottom, the end'siandathe-top except for an inlet opening 4|, which is not joined and is suitably diagonal, the edges being lower at the end 42 adjoining the center at the front of the coat than more remote from that end. To avoid dripping of liquids against the coat a suitably waterproof flap 43 extends down over the netting portion 40 of the creel along the outside.
The creel has an extension 34 at the end remote from the inlet opening and adjoining the center of the back of the coat when the creel is in the coat.
The coat has suitably at the left side a creel access opening 45similar to a pocket opening, and capable of being closed by cooperating snap fasteners 46, best seen in Figures 1, 4 and 5. The access opening is suitably covered by fiap 4'1.
' creel horizontal.
The coat on either side of and below the access opening'sfi has flaps 48 and 50 which are provided with slide fasteners of opposite character, for example flap "l8 suitably has a first slide fastener 5i and flap 59 has a second slide fastener 52 which cooperates with the first and suitably has a slider 53. The slide fasteners along with the others mentioned below are of the character which fully detach when completely opened.
The creel at the inlet opening is provided with cooperating third and fourth slide fasteners 54 and 55, of which third slide fastener 54 is suitably capable of cooperating with the first and fourth slide fastener 55 is suitably capable of cooperating with the second or third. Slide fastener 54 is provided with slider 56.
At the extension, the creel is provided with loop 5? extending upwardly at the top and hold ing female hook fastener 58 which is adapted to engage in male spring hook fastener 68 held in loop 6! suitably near the middle of the back of the coat on the inside. Hook fastener 80 suitably has hook ends as well known which are capable of engaging in the female cooperating element 58.
In operation it will be understood that the creel is normally retained in the coat, with the exception of the cooperating slide fasteners on the inside and the outside of the creel access opening and inlet opening in engagement as shown in Figure 5. Also the hook fasteners on the upper end of the extension of the creel are in engagement as shown in Figure 3 to hold the The user when he desires can insert fish or game through the creel access opening d5 into the creel. Where, in fishing, it is desired to keep the catch in the water, this can be done by releasing cooperating fasteners 58 and 5t and allowing the extension of the creel to trail while the access opening and inlet opening of the coat and the creel are held in engagement by the slide fasteners.
When the user desires to detach the creel from the coat, the slide fasteners are detached and the hook fasteners also detached if they are engaged. The user can then close the inlet opening of the creel by engaging third slide fastener with fourth slide fastener 55 at the inlet opening of the creel and pulling the slider to the closed position. Thus the slide fasteners on the creel serve a double purpose of securing the creel to the coat and also of closing the creel when it is detached.
Likewise the slide fasteners 5| and 52 on the coat may be used to close the creel access opening when the creel is detached.
In view of my invention and disclosure variations and modifications to meet individual whim or particular need will doubtless become evident to others skilled in the art, to obtain all or part of the benefits of my invention without copying the structure shown, and I therefore claim all such insofar as they fall within the reasonable spirit and scope of my claims.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
1. In a fishing or hunting garment, a coat having a creel access opening on one side thereof, a first slide fastener on the coat along one side of the access opening, a second slide fastener on the coat along the opposite side of the access opening cooperating with the first, a detachable creel in one position on the inside of the coat having an entrance opening adjoining the access opening in the coat, a third slide fastener on the creel along one side of the entrance opening in one position cooperating with the first slide fastener on the coat, and a fourth slide fastener on the creel along the other side of the entrance opening in one position cooperating with the second slide fastener on the coat, the third and fourth slide fasteners on the creel in detached position cooperating with one another to close the entrance opening of the creel.
2. In a fishing or hunting garment, a coat having a creel access opening on one side thereof, a first slide fastener on the coat along one side of the access opening, a second slide fastener on the coat along the opposite side of the access opening cooperating with the first, a detachable creel in one position on the inside of the coat having an entrance opening adjoining the access opening in the coat, a third slide fastener on the creel along one side of the entrance opening in one position cooperating with the first slide fastener on the coat, a fourth slide fastener on the creel along the other side of the entrance opening in one position cooperating with the second slide fastener on the coat, the third and fourth slide fasteners on the creel in detached position cooperating with one another to close the entrance opening of the creel, the creel having a lateral extension to one side of the entrance opening, and a detachable fastener connecting the lateral extension of the creel to the coat, whereby the creel can trail when the lateral extension is detached while the entrance opening of the creel is still connected to the access opening of the coat.
