These slot guides are self-cleaning, so that soiling is prevented.
Although being efiiciently protected against premature soiling and disturbances, my novel thread gripper also has to be cleaned from time to time. To facilitate this cleaning, it may be loosely engaged on the guide. member serving for its reciprocal motion and moreover it may be adapted to be easily disengaged from its driving lever.
While the invention has been described in detail with respect to a now preferred example and embodiment of the invention it will be understood by those skilled in the art after understanding the invention that various changes and modifications may be made without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention and it is intended, therefore, to cover all such changes and modifications in the appended claims.
What is claimed is:
1. A thread gripper for warp lmotting ,machines, comprising a pair of gripping jaws which are open on all sides, means for suspending said.
abutment, spring means yieldably urging said jaw against said abutment, means for reciprocating said jaw and said abutment toward and away from thread to be gripped, said gripping surfaces having a thread inlet side, portions of said jaw and said abutment on the opposite side i thereof from said inlet side defining an unobstructed discharge opening forsubstantially complete ejection in each gripping operation of waste fibers accumulated at said gripping surfaces during a previous gripping operation.
3. Thread gripping mechanism for warp tying apparatus comprising a pair of gripping jaws, a stationary abutment coacting with said jaws,
means for pivotally mounting saidjaws on ope posite sidesof said stationary abutment, a recess on said'jaws forming gripping surfaces thereon, means for urging said gripping surfaces yieldably against said abutment, said urgingmeans and said mounting means coacting'for admitting at one side of said jaws thread to be gripped, and portions of said jaws and said abutment atthe side opposite to said admitting side defining a substantially unobstructed discharge space for ejection of waste fibre, accumulating at said grip:- ping surfaces as thread is inserted therein. 7

Thread gripping mechanism for warp tying apparatus comprising a curved gripping'jaw substantially open on all sides, a stationary abutment adjacent one edge of said jaw, one curved edge of said jaw partially overlying said abutment, a thread-receiving recess in said overlying edge, gripping surfaces on said jaw and said abut ment for gripping thread inserted therebetween urging gripping surfaces on said jaw yieldably,
against said abutment, said curved jaw and said abutment forming on one side of said recess a thread inlet to said gripping surfaces, and portions of said abutment and said jaw on the opposite side of said recess from said inlet side defining a discharge space for substantially complete ejection in each gripping operation of waste fiber accumulating between said gripping surfaces in a previous gripping operation.
5. Thread gripping mechanism for warp tying apparatusadapted to grip two threads to be tied comprising two oppositely disposed gripping jaws,
. a stationary abutment between said jaws adapted to be inserted between said two threads to be gripped, means for yieldably urging each of said jaws inwardly toward said abutment, a thread receiving recess on each said jaw at the side thereof adjacent said abutment, gripping surfaces on said jaws and said abutment at said recesses, one side of said jaws being outwardly curved forming on each side of said abutment a thread entrance to said gripping surfaces, the opposite side of said jaws being outwardly curved forming on each side of said abutment a substantially unobstructed discharge space for ejection of waste fiber from between said gripping surfaces.
6. Thread gripping mechanism for warp tying apparatus comprising a three prong frame memher having the center prong adapted to be inserted between threads to be grippecha pair of gripping jaws, means for pivotally mountings-aid jaws on the outside prongs of said frame member on opposite sides of said center prong, spring means for yieldably urging said jaws inwardly against opposite sides of said center prong, means for adjusting tension of said spring means, a bifurcation at the outer end of each outside prong, guide means ,on said jaws engaging said bifurcation, gripping surfaces on said jaws at the edge opposite to said pivotal mounting'engaging cooperating gripping surfaces on oppoable gripping jaw, a stationary abutment coactsaid source of power. 7
