This invention relates to scarf hats and has for its object a hat form for a scarf hat readily adaptable for different combinations or styles of scarf hats and by which the scarf is readily applied and held in the desired form.

The invention consists in the novel features and in the combinations and constructions hereinafter set forth and claimed.

In describing this invention, reference is had to the accompanying drawings in which like characters designate corresponding parts in all the views.

Figure 1 is an exploded view of one arrangement of this hat form.

Figure 2 is an elevation, partly broken away, showing the scarf applied thereto.

Figure 3 is a view of the outer head band member and contiguous portion of the scarf showing the scarf attached to clips, or catches, for holding the scarf in hat form after being draped over and around the head.

Figure 4 is a view, similar to Figure l, of one of several modifications of thei hat form for producing dierent styles of scarf hats.

Figure 5 is a View illustrating the visor type applied to the head of the wearer.

This scarf hat form comprises interfitting concentric outer and inner head band members for receiving between them an edge, as a corner portion of a rectangular scarf which is folded rearward from the front of the head of the wearer over the top of the head and draped around the head and gathered under the chin of the wearer.

'Ihe hat form usually includes a form member, such as a visor or wider band, at least a portion of which is interiitted between the inner and outer band members and around which the scarf is folded before the scarf is draped rearwardly over and around the head of the wearer;

I and 2 designate the outer and inner band members. These are made commercially in several head sizes and either or both members may be provided in different style forms, that is for different styles of hats. As shown in Figure 1, both members I, 2 are cylindrical bands. The hat form also includes a third form member 3, at least a portion of which fits between the inner and outer band members to provide a visor, Figures 1, 2 and 3. The outer member I is also provided with clips, slits or catches 6 located to come in position at diametrically opposite sides of the head.

In use, a corner portion of a rectangular scarf I is also intertted between the form members I, 2 and 3, at the front portions thereof, that is,

i the portions to be located at the front of the head,

and then the scarf 'I pulled fairly taut forward under the form member 3, or visor, and then rearwardly over the visor, and the head and draped around the head with the side vertical portions of the draped scarf caught under the catches, these catches being in the hat form of slits 6 pointing backward. The draped portion of the scarf is then gathered at the front thereof under the chin of the wearer.

In the modification shown in Figure 4, the hat form member 3a is a band of greater height than the inner and outer bands I, 2, and provides a pillbox style of scarf hat, and the corner of the scarf is located as before between the interfitting members at the front of the head of the wearer and then folded back over the members I, 2, 3a, and draped around the head. Substantially the same assembly of the scarf and the band members is followed for other different types of scarf hats. The head bands are provided for different head sizes and each hat form is provided with a number of different styles of hat form members, such as 3 and 3a, interchangeably applicable to the head bands. The wearer can readily assemble the band and form members and the scarf for various styles of scarf hats. The form members may be shaped to provide, in addition to the visor and pillbox styles shown, cartwheel, derby, cossack, etc., styles. In any case, the hat form consists of inner and outer concentric head band members and a hat form member, a portion of which fits between the inner and outer head band members.

What we claim is:

1. A scarf hat comprising a form having outer and inner concentric cylindrical head band members telescopingly interiitted and frictionally held together, and a scarf having a corner thereof eX- tending upwardly between selected adjacent portions of said frictionally engaged head band members and held in position thereby, the remaining portion of said scarf being folded back over said form.

2. A scarf hat comprising a form having outer and inner concentric cylindrical head band members telescopingly intertted and frictionally held together, and a scarf having a corner thereof extending upwardly between selected adjacent portions of said frictionally engaged head band members and held in position thereby, the remaining portion of said scarf being draped over said head band members, said outer band member having a pair of integrally formed diametrically opposed catches to engage a portion of said esc-.rf and cause it to drape downwardly in folds adjacent said catches.

3. A scarf hat comprising a form having outer and inner concentric cylindrical head band inembers telescopingly intertted and frictionally held together and a visor extending substantially at a right angle forwardly from said band members, said visor having an angular flange formation along its inner edge insertedbetween selected adjacent portions of said head band members and frictionally held therebetween, and a scarf,

A scarf hat comprising a form having; outer and inner concentric cylindrical head band members telescopingly interlittedl and frictionally held together and aviser. extendingsubstantially at a right angle forwardly from said band members, said visor having an angular. ange formation along its inner edge inserted between selected adjacent portions of said head band members and frictionally held therebetween, and a scarf having a corner thereof extending upwardly between one of said head band members and said visor flange, the remaining portion of said scarf being drawn forwardly under said visor and then folded'back over the top of the visor and said head band members, said outer band member having a pair of diametrcally opposed slits extending inwardly from the lower edge thereof to engage a portion of said scarf and cause it to drape in folds adjacent said slits.
