YOUTH-CHIN MASSAGER Filed Sept. 13, 1952 Aug. 25, 1953 Z4 AA QJMQ jF/ZZAZ? IN VEN TOR.
Patented Aug. 25, 1953 YOUTH-CHIN MASSAGER Giovanna L. Hanrahan, Brooklyn, N. Y. Application September 13,1952, Serial No. 309,533
4 Claims. (01. 128-241) This invention relates to a chin massager.
It is an object of the present invention to provide a chin massager which will aid in correcting sagging chins so prevalent among women and men who are approaching middle age and which will preserve the youthful chin-line of younger users.
It is another object of the present invention to provide a chin massager which will embody the use of mildly cold applications to the skin and also as a massaging device, both of these operations being well-known beauty aids.
It is still another object of the present invention to provide a chin massager which can be fabricated entirely of plastic and which is adapted to mass production techniques, thereby making the device available to the user at a relatively low cost.
Other objects of the invention are to provide a chin massager bearing the above objects in mind which is of simple construction, has a minimum number of parts, is easily self-applied, is compact, pleasing in appearance, durable, will have long life and is efiicient in operation.
For other objects and for a better understanding of the present invention, reference may be had to the following detailed description taken in connection with the accompanying drawing, in which:
Fig. 1 is a perspective view of a chin massager embodying the features of the present invention;
Fig. 2 is a vertical sectional view taken along line 2-2 of Fig. 1 and Fig. 3 is a perspective view showing the invention in operative use.
Referring now in detail to the figures, and in the practice of my invention, there is shown a chin massager, referred to collectively as Ill, consisting of a. plastic box-shaped container I I open at the top and having the upper edges of its longitudinal side walls concavely curved for a purpose to be hereinafter described.
A hollow handle I2 is integrally formed to the lower surface of the bottom of the container II at the center thereof and is further secured thereto by four web members I3 integrally formed in the lower surface of the bottom of the container II and the handle I2. The web members I3 are positioned at right angles to each other, as shown in Fig. 2.
An inverted plastic box-shaped cover I 4 is adapted to slide onto the container I I in snug engagement and to be retained thereon by friction between the respective vertical walls of the container I I and the cover I4, the top of the cover being concavely curved so as to lie flush with the concavely curved longitudinal side walls of the container II, and the concavely curved side walls of the cover coinciding with the concavely curved side walls of the container.
The top of the cover I4 is provided with a plurality of spaced openings I5 substantially the size of a pin-head and for a purpose to be hereinafter described. While I have shown eleven parallel rows of five perforations per row in the drawing, it should be apparent that any number or arrangement of perforations may be used.
As shown in Fig. 2, the cover I4 may be removed manually to provide access to the container II, in which a plurality of ice-cubes I6 are placed. The cover I4 is then replaced on the container I I and the device is ready for use,
It should be noted that the top of the cover I4 and the vertical longitudinal walls of the container II are so curved as to fit the contour of the human chin.
By grasping the handle l2, as shown in Fig. 3, with its integral container and fitted cover housing the ice-cubes, and slapping, in short strokes, the top of the cover against the under part of the chin, moving the device from the jaw-line to under-chin to jaw-line in quick, short, slapping strokes, I have found that by persistent daily use, the device so used will aid in correcting the chin sagging so prevalent among women and men who are approaching middle age. It will also preserve the users youthful chin-line in the case of younger people.
It should now be apparent that there has been provided a chin massager which will combine the beneficial operations of mildly cold applications to the skin and massage in a single device and operation and which can be fabricated entirely of plastic in mass production thereby making the device available to the user at a relatively low cost.
While various changes may be made in the detailed construction, it shall be understood that such changes shall be within the spirit and scope of the present invention as defined by the appended claims.
Having thus set forth and disclosed the nature of my invention, what is claimed is:
1. A chin massager comprising a substantially box-shaped container open at the top, a handle rigidly secured to the bottom of said container, and a substantially box-shaped cover adapted to slide onto said container, the top of said cover being concavely curved to conform to the contour of the human chin and having a plurality of spaced openings, and ice-cubes inside said container.
2. A chin massager comp-rising a substantially box-shaped container open at the top, said container having longitudinal side walls concavely curved along their upper edges to conform to the contour of the human chin, a handle rigidly secured to the bottom of said container, a substantially box-shaped cover adapted to slide onto said container, said cover having longitiudinal side walls concavely curved along their upper edges to conform to the contour of the human chin and adapted to coincide with said longitudinal side walls of said container, said cover having a concavely curved top to conform to the contour of the human chin and to lie flush against the concavely curved upper edges of said side walls of said container, said top of said cover having a plurality of spaced openings, and icecubes within said container and directly below said top of said cover.
3. A chin massager comprising a substantially box-shaped container open at the top, said container having longitudinal side walls concavely curved along their upper edges to conform to the contour of the human chin, a handle rigidly secured to the bottom of said container, a plurality of spaced web members rigidly secured to said handle and to said bottom of said container, a substantially box-shaped cover adapted to slide onto said container, said cover having longitudinal side walls concavely curved along their upper edges to conform to the contour of the human chin and adapted to coincide with said longitudinal side walls of said container, said cover having a concavely curved top surface to conform to the contour of the human chin and adapted to lie flush against the concavely curved upper edges of said side walls of said container, said top of said cover having a plurality of spaced openings, and ice-cubes within said container and directly below said top of said cover.
4. A chin massager comprising a plastic substantially box-shaped container open at the top, said container having longitudinal side Walls concavely curved along their upper edges to conform to the contour of the human chin, a hollow plastic handle integrally formed in the bottom of said container, a plurality of plastic web members integrally formed in and connecting said handle and said bottom of said container, a plastic substantially box-shaped cover adapted to slide onto said container, said cover having longitudinal side Walls concavely curved along their upper edges to conform to the contour of the human chin and adapted to coincide with said longitudinal side walls of said container, said cover having a concavely curved top surface to conform to the contour of the human chin and adapted to lie flush against the concavely curved upper edges of said side Walls of said container, said top surface of said cover having a plurality of spaced openings substantially the size of pinheads, and a plurality of ice-cubes within said container and directly below said openings in said top surface of said cover.
