3 Claims. (Cl. 53114) The present invention relates to new and useful improvements in devices for use in wrapping coms.

An important object of the invention is to provide a coin holder including a trough or groove in which the coins are placed together with a coin measuring clip swingable into and out of position overlying the trough to hold a predetermined number of the coins, to thus measure the size of the stack of coins to be wrapped and avoid the necessity of counting the coins.

A further object is to provide a device of this character of simple and practical construction, which is eflicient and reliable in use, relatively inexpensive to manufacture and otherwise well adapted for the purposes for which the same is intended.

Other objects and advantages reside in the details of construction and operation as more fully hereinafter described and claimed, reference being had to the accompanying drawings forming part hereof, wherein like numerals refer to like parts throughout, and in which:

Figure 1 is a perspective view;

Figure 2 is an end elevational view;

Figure 3 is an enlarged fragmentary side elevational view with parts broken away and shown in section; and

Figure 4 is a view illustrating a stack of the wrapped coins.

Referring now to the drawing in detail wherein for the purpose of illustration we have disclosed a preferred embodiment of the invention, the numeral 5 designates a base having a transverse coin holding trough or groove 6 in its upper surface and adjacent one or both ends of the base. The upper surface of the base slopes downwardly toward the center thereof from the trough or groove 6, as shown at 1.

The coin wrapper is shown at 8 and is placed with one end portion of the wrapper in the trough or groove to form a lining therefor and with the remainder of the wrapping resting on top of the sloping portion 1 of the base.

A U-shaped wire measuring clip 9 has its end portions formed with outwardly projecting trunnions which are engaged in screw eyes ll secured to the end of the base and the leg portions l2 of the clip are curved to overlie the top of the base to position the leg portions transversely of the trough or groove is and with the central or bight portion l3 of the clip resting on top of the wrapper 8 to hold the latter downwardly on the base.

The leg portions I2 01 the clip are positioned parallel with respect to each other and spaced from each other a proper distance to hold a predetermined number of coins [4 when placed in the trough or groove 16 between the legs l2 of the clip to thus measure a stack of the coins of a predetermined value without the necessity of counting the coins.

In the operation of the device the clip 9 is swung outwardly at the end of the base 5, as shown by dotted lines in Figure 3 of the drawing and the wrapper 8 is then placed on top of the base and in the trough or groove 6. The clip 9 is then swung over the top of the base to hold the wrapper -8 in position in the trough or groove and the coins M of a predetermined denomination are then placed in the trough or groove between the leg portions IZ of the clip and which thus hold the coins in confronting or stacked relation to each other. The clip 9 is then swung outwardly at the end of the base while the stack of coins are held by the fingers of a person and the stack of coins are then rolled in the trough or groove 6 to wrap the wrapper 8 thereon.

It will be understood that the clip 9 is constructed of a proper size according to the denomination and number of coins to be wrapped.

In view of the foregoing description taken in conjunction with the accompanying drawings it is believed that a clear understanding of the device will be quite apparent to those skilled in this art. A more detailed description is accordingly deemed unnecessary.

It is to be understood, however, that even though there is herein shown and described a preferred embodiment of the invention the same is susceptible to certain changes fully comprehended by the spirit of the invention as herein described and the scope of the appended claims.

Having described the invention, what is claimed as new is:

1. A coin wrapping device comprising a base having a transverse groove in its top adjacent its front end, a U-shaped member pivoted at its ends to said base about an axis substantially parallel to said groove, the arm portions of said U-shapea member extending across said groove and the web of the U -shaped member extending past the groove to permit the emplacement of coins in the groove between the arms, said arms being engageable with a portion of the top of said base adjacent the groove to retain a portion of a coin wrapper positioned within the groove.

2. A coin Wrapping device comprising a base having a rounded front end wall and a transversely extending groove in its top surface adjacent said rounded front end wall, a U-shaped member comprising a pair of arms and a central Web portion, said arms being pivoted at their free ends to the front end wall of the base about an axis parallel to said groove, said arms being curved for a portion of their length in conformity with the curvature of said rounded end Wall, said arms extending across said groove and said Web portion being disposed at the side-10f said groove to permit coins. to be positioned; therein between the arms, the curved portions of said arms being engageable with the end walp'adjacent the groove; to maintain a coin wrapper in position, in the groove.

3.
