Attached closures for tubes, bottles and the like are of course known to the art. One of them has a closing screw consisting of onepart and providecf'with two connecting flaps reaching to the tube and exposing between them the thread of the mouth of the tube, and radially inwardly projecting folds at the lower ends of the flaps grasp special ears disposed on the mouth of the container. After opening of the tube and'ex posure of the mouth thereof the closures can be turned" over, the projections on the extended flaps preventing the'n'r from falling oif.
Other known tube closures comprise two parts, oneof which is a closing cap to be screwed on above and the other a lower threaded rin'g sur= rounding the thread of the mouth. Both parts are connected by a joint and have'to be jointly jections. Above" all, they not only faiito. cover thethread but exposed essential parts thereof.

Referring to the drawing, i is the container provided with the neck portion 2 over which the annular holding member 3 is placed already during the manufacturing process and suitably secured against removal and rotation. The upper edge 2a may for instance be flanged.
The closure cap 4 has the shape shown in the drawings, that is, it is fitted with two inwardly and upwardly projecting bayonet lugs 5. The rear bayonet lug 5 is so constructed to form an abutment 6 with which the cap 4 in the open position according to Fig. 5 engages the surface of the tube.
The holding member 3 is firmly and nonrotatably arranged on the mouth 2 of the tube and posseses two grooves 1 and 8 extending in the direction of rotation corresponding to the closing operation, that is, spirally downwardly. In these grooves I and 8 slide the lugs 5 of the closing cap 4. Within the cut-out 8 of the holding member 3 the grooves are interrupted to enable one lug 5a of the cap 4 to pass out of the holding member 3 and thus permit opening of the cap. As indicated in Fig. 9, the other lug 5b of the cap cannot get out of the groove 8 when the lug 5a registers with cut-out 9. Thus, the rear lug 5b and the groove 8 form the joint.
The operation is as follows:
When the closing cap 4 is in the position shown in Fig. 4 the front lug So has left its groove 1, and the cap 4 can then be pivoted about lug 5b into the opening position according to Figs. 3 and 5. The groove portion 8 increases in depth away from the cut-out 9, while the groove portion 1 decreases in depth away from the cut-out 9 so that a stop face 8a is formed where the groove portion 1, 8 meet. This stop face renders the position for the opening of the cap 4 perceptible. Having been closed, the cap 4 is turned about 90 in the direction of a screw cap provided with right handed thread, and during this operation the front lug 5a enters the groove 1. As the guides I and 8 ascend in helical fashion towards the tube, the cap 4, by means of these grooves I and 8 and the lugs 5a, 5b, is simultaneously tightened in axial direction towards the tube, so that the inner surface of the cap 4 comes closer to the flanging or beading 2a. Between this surface and the flanging 2a a packing may be interposed in known manner. The closure is assembled by placing members 3, 4 in the position of Fig. 5 on the neck portion 2 of the container, and thereupon forming the flange 2a in a suitable manner.
I claim:
1. A closure comprising in combination, a cylindrical holding member having a transversal bottom face and a transversal top face, and an axial bore extending between said top face and said bottom face for receiving the neck portion of a container, said cylindrical holding member being formed with a cutout extending in the cylindrical outer surface thereof from said top face to said bottom face, said holding member being further formed with a groove in said bottom face thereof, said groove being concentric with said cylindircal surface; and a closure cap having a cylindrical wall and a transversal top wall, said closure cap having two diametrically located inwardly curved lugs projecting from the free edge of said cylindrical wall and engaging said groove in a position of said closure cap in which said top wall thereof is adapted to abut against the end of the container neck portion passing through said axial bore, said closure cap being turnable on said holding member with said lugs sliding in said groove to a position in which one of said lugs registers with said cutout in said holding member, from which latter position said closure cap may be pivoted about a joint formed by the end portion of the other of said lugs and by said groove, said one of said lugs passing through said cutout during such opening pivoting movement.
2. A closure comprising in combination, a cylindrical holding member having a transversal bottom face and a transversal top face and formed with an axial bore extending between said top face and said bottom face for receiving the neck portion of a container, said cylindrical holding member being formed with a cutout extending through the cylindrical outer surface thereof from said top face to said bottom face, said holding member being further formed with a groove in said bottom face thereof, said groove being concentric with said cylindrical surface and having two ends opening into said cutout, said groove having two portions of varying depth, one of said portions of said groove gradually decreasing its depth from one of said ends of said groove, and the other portion of said groove gradually increasing its depth from the other of said ends of said groove; and a closure cap having a cylindrical wall and a transversal top wall, said closure cap having two diametrically located inwardly curved lugs projecting from the free edge of said cylindrical wall, each of said lugs engaging one of said portions of said groove in a position of said closure cap in which said top wall thereof is adapted to abut against the end of a container neck portion passing through said axial bore, said top wall of said closure cap moving towards said top face of said holding member while said closure cap is rotated in a direction causing movement of said lugs toward portions of decreased depth of said portions of said groove, said closure cap being turnable in a direction opposite to said direction to a pivoting position in which one of said lugs registers with said cutout in said holding member, from which pivoting position said closure cap may be pivoted about a joint formed by the end portion of the other of said lugs and by said groove, said one of said lugs passing through said cutout during such opening pivoting movement.
3. A closure comprising in combination, a cylindrical holding member having a transversal bottom face and a transversal top face and formed with an axial bore extending between said top face and said bottom face for receiving the neck portion of a container, said cylindrical holding member being formed with a cutout extending through the cylindrical outer surface from said top face to said bottom face, said holding member being further formed with a groove in said bottom face thereof, said groove being concentric with said cylindrical surface and having two ends opening into said cutout, said groove having two portions of varying depth, one of said portions of said groove gradually decreasing its depth from one of said ends of said groove, and the other portion of said groove gradually increasing its depth from the other of said ends of said groove; and a closure cap having a cylindrical wall and a tranversal top wall, said closure cap having two diametrically located inwardly curved lugs projecting from the free edge of said cylindrical wall, each of said lugs engaging one of said portions of said groove in a position of said closure cap in which said top wall thereof is adapted to abut against the end of a container neck portion passing through said axial bore, said top wall of said closure cap moving towards said top face of said holding member while said closure cap is rotated in a direction causing movement of said lugs toward portions of decreased depth of said portions of said groove, said closure cap being turnable in a direction opposite to said direction to a pivoting position in which one of said lugs registers with said cutout in said holding member, from which pivoting position said closure cap may be pivoted about a joint formed by the end portion of the other of said lugs and by said groove, said one of said lugs passing through said cutout during such opening pivoting movement, said closure cap having an abutment on the outer surface of said cylindrical wall in the region of said other lug adapted to engage the container when said closure cap is pivoted to a wide open position.
4. A closure comprising in combination, a cylindrical holding member having a transversal bottom face and a transversal top face and formed with an axial bore extending between said top face and said bottom face for receiving the neck portion of a container, said cylindrical holding member being formed with a cutout extending through the cylindrical outer surface thereof from said top face to said bottom face, said holding member being further formed with a groove in said bottom face thereof, said groove being concentric with said cylindrical surface and having two ends opening into said cutout, said groove having two portions of varying depth, one of said portions of said groove gradually decreassaid portions of said groove in a position of,
