To all whom it may concer'n Be it known that We, N. W. LANGLEY, of East Cambridge, in the county ofMiddlesex, and HENRY JONES and AARON S. DRAHE, both OfStoughton, in the county of Norfolk, State of Massachusetts, have invented an Improved Method of Securing Photo aphs, Daguerreotypes, or other Devices or eslgns to Tombstones, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, making part of this specification, inwhich- `Figure 1,is a perspective view of a por tion of a tombstone having a likeness secured theretoin our improved method.` Fig. 2, a vertical section through the same.
The attem ts heretofore made topreserve a likeness o 'f a deceased person on a tombstone, by securing thereto a daguerreotype or photograph, has failed from the diiiiculty of excluding the atmosphere from the picture, which Was soon injured by the admission of moisture. a Y; l
To remedy this is the object of our present invention. which consists in placing ness or picture in a `glass case or at bottle, the neck of Which is closed by a round glass stopper, tting tightly thereln, the glass bottle or case then being secured to the tomb-stone. p
That others skilled in the art may understand and use our invention, We Will proceed to describe the manner in Which `We have carriedA out the same.
