1 Claim. (Cl.- 2402) This invention relates to an illuminated electric razor frame, and important objects and advantages thereof are to provide a razor frame of the character described, which embodies novel means for lighting the shaving area to thereby facilitate and expedite shaving operations, which is simple in its construction and arrangement, durable and efiicient in its use, compact, and comparatively economical to manufacture.
To the accomplishment of these and such other objects as may hereinafter appear, the invention resides in the novel construction, combination and arrangement of parts herein specifically described and illustrated in the accompanying drawing, but it is to be understood that changes in the form, proportions, and details of construction may be resorted to that come within the scope of the claim hereunto appended.
In the drawing wherein like numerals of reference designate corresponding parts throughout the several views:
Figure 1 is a front elevational view of an electric razor frame constructed in accordance with the invention.
Figure 2 is a cross sectional view on line 2--2, Figure 1.
Figure 3 is a similar view of a modified form of razor frame embodying the present invention.
Referring in detail to the drawing, the improved razor frame comprises a pair of similar, curvilinear side walls, respectively indicated at l6 and H, which are shaped to provide a comparatively large chamber l8 therebetween to re- 7 ceive the razor mechanism, and which form the casing or cover for the latter.
An outwardly opening hinged door it is provided in the side wall It adjacentjto the rearward end of the latter, and is formed with a suitable recess 20 for engagement to facilitate its opening. A lamp 2| is mounted on the inner side of the door and when the latter is shifted to the open position the lamp will shift therewith and will be exposed for convenient replacement when required.
Conductors 22 connect the lamp 2| with the electric cord 23 supplying electric current operating the razor mechanism in the usual manner, whereby whenever the razor mechanim is operating the lamp will be illuminated. It will, of course, be obvious that the mounting of the lamp and the electrical connection of the latter may be varied to best meet conditions found in practice without departing from the principle of the invention.
An elongated "light transmitting member 24 is disposed against the inner face of the side Wall [6 and is secured to the latter by cement or in any other suitable manner. The light transmitting member may be constructed of any suitable solid or tubular material capable of conveying or conducting light rays therethrough, preferably solid plastic or analogous material.
The forward end 26, of the light transmitting member 2 3, extends through a diagonally dis posed opening 25 in the side wall it, and is preferably tapered to extend flush with outer surface of the side wall l6 adjacent to the forward end of the latter, as clearly illustrated in Figures 1 and 2. The rearward end 21 of the light transmitting member 24 is disposed adjacent to the lamp 2] within the chamber I8.
The light transmitting member 2 5 is preferably oblong, rectangularly-shaped in transverse cross section, which contour, in conjunction with the tapered conformation of the end 26 thereof, provides the latter with considerable area extent. In practice, the rays of light from the lamp 2| Will be conveyed from the latter through the light transmitting member 2 4 in the longitudinal direction and will be dispersed from the large area of the end 26, to thereby illuminate a considerable area surrounding the forward end of the frame structure including the cutting end of the razor mechanism, and thus facilitate shaving operation by efficient lighting conditions.
The modified form of the invention, shown in Figure 3, comprises a pair of side walls 28 and 29, providing a chamber 36 therebetween. The side wall 28 is provided with a hinged door 3i! adjacent to the rearward end thereof. A lamp 3! is mounted on the door and projects into the chamber 36.
A pair of light transmitting members 32 and 33 are secured against the outer face of respective side Walls 28, 29, and have their rearward end portions extended through the side walls to position the rearward ends 35 thereof adjacent to the lamp 3|. The forward ends 34 of the light transmitting members 32, 33 are preferably tapered and are disposed adjacent to the forward ends of respective side walls 23 and 29.
In the use of this modified form of razor frame, light rays from the lamp 3| are conducted through both light transmitting members 32 and 33 and is dispersed at both sides of the side walls at the forward ends of the latter to illuminate the shaving areas.
The present invention provides a most practical and efficient device of its kind, which may be economically constructed, and conveniently and successfully employed for the purposes and in the manner herein set forth.
What I claim is:
An illuminated electric razor frame comprising a pair of side walls shaped to form a chamber therebetween to house the razor mechanism, a door hingedly connected to one of said walls adjacent to the rearward end of the latter, a lamp mounted on the inner side of said door, and an elongated light transmitting member secured throughout its length against the inner face of the side wall carrying said door, the rearward end of said member being disposed adjacent to said lamp, the forward end of said'member extending through the side wall carrying said door and being disposed adjacent to the forward end of said last mentioned side wall and extending flush with the outer surface of the latter.
