This invention relates to a pocket clip for holding an article in a pocket. 7

An object of this invention is to provide a clip or clamping means whereby an article may be releasably clamped within a pocket; such as a shirt pocket or the like.

Another object of this invention is to provide a clip or clamping means which includes a base bar adapted to be secured to the article with the base bar having a spring pressed clip at one end for engagement with the outer wall of a pocket.

A further object of this invention is to provide a clip or clamping means of this kind which is of simple construction and can be readily secured to an article so that the latter may be clamped to a pocket.

With the above and other objects in view, my invention consists in the arrangement, combination and details of construction disclosed in the drawing and specification, and then more particularly pointed out in the appended claim.

Figure 1 is a detailed front elevation of a pocket having a, clip constructed according to an embodiment of this invention mounted therein.

Figure 2 is an enlarged sectional view taken on the line 2-2 of Figure 1.

Figure 3 is a. detailed front elevation of the device removed from an article.

Figure 4 is a fragmentary front elevation of the lower portion of the device.

Referring to the drawing, the numeral 10 designates generally a shirt pocket which includes a front wall II and a rear or inner wall I2. In order to provide a means whereby an article such as a cigarette package P or the like may be removably secured in the pocket I0, I have provided an elongated base bar [4 which is formed at its lower end with a relatively sharp point l3.

The bar M has a spring pressed clamping clip l5 pivotally secured between outwardly projecting ears [6 and clip l5, as shown in Figure 2, is adapt ed to bear against the outer side of outer pocket wall II, as shown in Figure 2. The bar I4 is substantially longer than the length of the package P and is extended through the outer wrapper I! by projecting the point l3 through the top wall l8 of the wrapper I! and moving the bar I4 downwardly between the front wall l9 of the wrapper and the adjacent wall of the package P. The bar 14 is then projected through the bottom wall =20 of the package P, and in order to lock bar i4 relative to the package, a pivoted locking men ber 2| is pivotally mounted on a pivot pin 22 extending through the lower portion of bar It.

When the point 13 of bar l4 projects below the bottom wall 20 of wrapper l1, locking member 21 w ich is initially disposed in alignment with bar M is turned at right angles to the length of bar 14, as shown in Figure 3. Locking member 2| will thereby hold bar [4 in locked position relative to wrapper I! and package P.

The bar l4 may also be secured to an eye glass case for clamping the case in a pocket. In order to secure bar M to the eye glass case, bar :4 is formed with spaced opening 23 through which lrivets or other securing elements are adapted to extend. Where the bar [4 is to be secured to a series of elongated loose articles such as cigars or the like, the cigars are secured to bar M by looping a rubber band about the cigars and about bar M. An ofiset lug 24 is formed on the bar [4 so that the rubber band may be extended between the lug 24 and the adjacent outer side of bar 14.

What is claimed is:

A pocket clip comprising an elongated flat bar, a point at one end of said bar whereby said bar may be projected through a package, a locking bar pivotally carried by said first named bar adjacent said point and adapted to be turned to a locking position at right angles to the length of said first named bar, and a spring-pressed clip carried by the opposite end of said first named bar.
