, :t'on of Maryland This invention relates broadly to a novel face mask and more particularly to a new and im-- proved face mask to be used and worn by adults and children alike at Halloween parties and the like, much to the amusement and enjoyment of everyone concerned. In a more specific aspect, the invention relates to and i concerned with a novel face mask which, when worn over the face of the user, imparts not only an amusing, comical and some times grotesque appearance to the face of the user but, in addition, enables the user to make, at will, a desired loud noise, such as a whistle, a squawk or a razzberry type of noise known familiarly as a Bronx Cheer. In addition, the face mask of the present invention may be so designed that the noise maker of the structure serves a dual purpose of emitting a desired loud noise of the foregoing character and also of simultaneously moving and/or distorting one or more simulated anatomical features of the face and head, such as the nose and tongue.

An object of the invention is to provide a comical and amusing face mask provided with a builtin or integral noise maker.

Another object of the invention is to provide an amusing face mask provided with built-in or integral means operable at the will of the wearer or user to emit a loud noise and simultaneously move or distort one or more simulated anatomical features of the face and head such as the nose or tongue, much to the enjoyment of everyone concerned.

A further object of the invention is to provide a face mask of the foregoing general character wherein the built-in noise maker is operated by the mouth of the wearer after the mask is afiixed to the face or head of the wearer.

Other objects and advantages of the invention will become apparent as the description proceeds.

To the accomplishment of the foregoing and related ends, the invention, then, comprises the features hereinafter fully described, and particularly pointed out in the claims, the following description setting forth in detail certain illustrative embodiments of the invention, these being indicative however of but a few of the various ways in which the principle of the invention may be employed.

Reference is now made to the accompanying drawings in which like reference characters denote like parts and in which:

Fig. 1 is a perspective view of the mask of the invention; and

Fig. 2 is a vertical section of the mask shown in Fig. 1.

' 1 pplication December 5, 195 I 3 Claims. o1. 2 -2i)e)= In all of the figures and in all of the modifications the face mask is generally designated by the reference character I. The body of the mask is molded into any desired facial characteristics and examples of such characteristics are shown in Fig. 1. While molding of the masks is a desirable process, it is to be understood that, in some cases, the mask may be formed by a dipping operation employing forms of the desired facial characteristics. The mask is preferably composed of rubber in the form of latex, although it is to be understood that any desirable material could be employed.

The masks are made in at least two sizes, one size to fit the average child's face and the other size to fit the average adults face. Toward the rear and on each side of the mask there is provided a hole or opening 2 to which is aflixecl the conventional rubber band orstring to enable the mask to be positioned firmly on the head of the wearer.

In Figs. 1 and 2 there is shown a modification of the invention wherein the noise maker is in the form of a device which is capable of emittin a razzberry type of noise (Bronx Cheer). This noise maker is in the form of a simulated tongue 1 which is built into the mask I within an open mouth cavity generally designated at 8. This simulated tongue I is generally hollow and is provided at its outer extremity with a close-lipped portion 9 and at its inner extremity Iii, on the inside of the mask, with a mouth piece H. The tongue is cemented in the mouth with a suitable adhesive. With the mask in place on the head of the wearer, the mouth piece H is rasped by the lips of the wearer and when he blows through the mouth piece a razzberry type noise is emitted from the end 9 of the rubber tongue I and at the same time a vibratory motion is imparted to the tongue and it swings up and down, as shown by the arrow in Fig. 2.

The modification included herein is merely i1- lustrative and it will be understood, of course, that the invention is to be taken as limited only by the scope of the appended claims.

What is claimed is:

1. A rubber face mask for amusement purposes adapted to cover substantially entirely the face of the wearer and having on the exterior thereof simulated anatomical features of the face, such as a mouth, a nose and eyes, said mask having a built-in, hollow, flexible simulated tongue, a mouthpiece on one end of the tongue positioned inside the mask, and means on the tongue operated by the mouthpiece for simultaneously vibrating the tongue and creating a loud noise.

2. A rubber face mask for amusement purposes adapted to cover substantially entirely the face .of the wearer and having on the exterior thereof simulated anatomical features of the face, such as a mouth, a nose and eyes, said mask having a built-in, hollow, flexible simulated tongue, a mouthpieoe on-o'ne end of the tongue positioned inside the mask, and a. restricted opening on the other end of the tongue whereby, when the wearer blows on said mouthpiece, the tongue,

simultaneously vibrates and creates a loud vibrating noise. Y r

3. A rubber face mask for amusementpu'rposes adapted to cover substantially entirely the face of the wearer and having on the, exterior thereof. simulated anatomical features of the face, such as a mouth, a nose and eyes, said mask having:

a built-in, hollow, flexible simulated tongue, a mouthpiece on one end of the tongue positioned inside the mask, and means on the other end oi. the tongue operated by the wearer blowing on 5 said mouthpiece, for simultaneously vibrating the tongue and creating a loud noise.
