at any one time, or placing a larger game or rectangular in formation, and vary in size from puzzle piece on a smaller game or puzzle piece at a large game piece at the bottom of the post, to
any one time. a small game piece at the top of the post, the In mastering the puzzle the following move 55 outer edges of the game pieces being beveled on 3 their four sides, so that when the game pieces are arranged or superposed, the game pieces will form an object of truncated pyramid construction.
Each game piece is provided with a central opening 8, the walls thereof being beveled, as clearly shown by Fig. 3 of the drawing, so that when a game piece is positioned with the opening contacting the outer end of a post, the game piece will -be centered with respecttothe post. The openings 8 are square so that they fit snugly over the post to hold it against movement.
Formed in the upper end of each post are grooves 9 to accommodate the spring clip [0, which when inserted in the grooves, contact the uppermost puzzle or game piece 7,.holding the puzzle or game pieces securely on the posts.
Having thus described the invention, what is claimed is:
A puzzle of the class described, comprising a base, a plurality of posts risingifrom the base, said-posts being rectangularin formation, a plurality ofpuzzle pieces having rectangular openings' formed centrally thereof, the openings being wide at their lower ends and tapered inwardly towards their upper ends, the tapered portions of the openings extending throughout substantially the entire thicknesses of the puzzle pieces, substantiallysmall portions of the walls of said openings at their upper ends being verticaL'said openingsebeing fitted over the posts, the vertical 4 sections of the walls of the openings contacting the posts and preventing rotation of the puzzle pieces, said wide portions of the openings guiding the puzzle pieces onto the posts, said posts having horizontal grooves in opposite edges thereof, a spring clip extending through the grooves and engaging the uppermost puzzle pieces on the posts, normally securing the puzzle pieces against displacement from the posts, and the outer surfaces of said puzzle pieces being inclined towards the upper'surfaces thereof, providing an object of truncated pyramid shape when the puzzle pieces are properly placed, one upon another on a post.
