Description

March 18, 1952 w. J. LEICHTER BLOUSE Filed NOV. 5, 1948 INVENTOR.
VV/LL/AM d LE/CHTEA BY m 750m A TTORA/EX Patented Mar. 18, 1952 UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE BLOUSE William J. Leichter, Bronx, N. Y.
Application November 5, 1948, Serial No. 58,509
2 Claims.
This invention relates to new and useful improvements in blouses, especially ladies blouses, and it has for its object to provide a blouse that has embodied therein new, original and fashionable features.
Thus, the special object of this invention is to provide a ladys blouse with a cut-away portion to form an open space at the front or back of said blouse, according to what may be desired.
The said open space may be square, oval, circular, diamond, triangular, or hexagonal shaped.
In the said open space may be inserted any chosen ornamental matters, such as a monogram, picture, or the like.
In order, however, further to embellish the appearance of said blouse, the said space with, for instance, a picture therein, is surrounded by a frame, which may be made of the same material as the blouse, or be of a different material, according to the color scheme chosen.
As the unique device, as set forth, is simple to make, the cost of manufacturing a blouse embodying the same, is relatively small.
With the above and other objects in view, this invention consists of the novel features of construction, combination and arrangement of parts, hereinafter fully described, claimed and illustrated in the accompanying drawing forming part of this application, and in which similar characters of reference indicate corresponding parts in all views, and in which:
Figure 1 is an elevational view of a blouse, partially open at the front, and showing my devised construction.
Figure 2 is a rear elevational rear view of the blouse showing, however, a modification in the construction thereof.
Figure 3 is an elevational view of the inner side of the back of the blouse, with parts broken off.
Figures 4 and 5 are transverse sectional views taken, respectively, on lines 4-4 and 55 in Figure 3, and showing the portions only, intersected by the section planes.
Referring more particularly to the drawing, the numeral Ill indicates a blouse, having the rear panel portion thereof cut-away to provide an opening ll. Pieces of material l2, I3 and 14, preferably of the same kind as the blouse, are bent upon themselves to form channeled frame members; the inwardly bent sides of the latter are stitched to the blouse in surrounding relation to the opening H, as shown in dotted lines at [6.
At the top a narrow piece of material I5 is integral with the back panel of the blouse forming with said back panel a channeled frame member, thereby completing a rectangular frame.
An ornamental piece of material, or member l8. such as a monogram, or picture, may then be inserted into said frame by means of the channeled members constituting the latter; the said member 18 is held in place in any suitable manner, such as by snap fasteners l9, parts of which are disposed on said member l8 and the counterparts within the channeled frame, whereby a snug fitting is made of said piece of material, or member 18, with the display thereon, as the edges of the material are disposed within the channeled frame member proper.
In order further to embellish the blouse, a frame 20, asshown in Figure 2 may be fastened on to the outside of the blouse I0 and around the opening II, to give an enhanced effect to the beauty of the inserted monogram l8, or the like.
The said frame 20 may be made of any suitable material, and consists of four folded strips secured to the outside of the back of the blouse panel in opposition to the strips providing the inner frame.
It is obvious that changes may be made in the form, construction and arrangement of the several parts, as shown, within the scope of the appended claims, without departing from the spirit of the invention, and I do not, therefore, wish to limit myself to the exact construction shown and described herein.
What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States, is:
1. In a device of the class described, a blouse including a back panel provided with a rectangular opening therein, a frame disposed on the inner face of the back panel in surrounding relation to said opening therein, said frame including three pieces of material folded upon themselves to provide channel members and secured to the rear panel adjacent the bottom and side edges of said opening, and a fourth piece of material integral with the back panel folded upon itself to provide a channel member and extending along the upper edge of said opening, and an ornamental panel removably disposed within said frame.
2. The structure according to claim 1 together with a frame formed of four strips of material secured to the outer face of said panel in surrounding relation to said opening therein.
WILLIAM J. LEICHTER.
