1 Claim.
1 This invention relates to beauty parlors and particularly hair dryers in beauty parlors, and in particular the combination of a miniature loud speaker with a hair dryer wherein a patron of a beauty parlor may listen to radio programs while her hair is drying.
The purpose of this invention is to provide an attachment for mounting a loud speaker unit on a hair drying hood wherein a plurality of patrons in a beauty parlor maylisten to difierent radio programs at the same time with each program.
localized by a small loud speaker on a hair dryer or other hair treating device with which a patron is associated. 7
Radio loud speakers for individual use have been provided on counters and in booths in restaurants and the like and radio sets have been provided in barber shops and the like but it has been found very difiicult to follow a radio program in public establishments of this description because of interference and because very few people desire to listen to the same program. With this thought in mind this invention contemplates a small loud speaker unit incorporated in or used in combination with a hair dryer in a beauty parlor or the like wherein each patron may select and enjoy a radio program.
The object of this invention is, therefore, to provide means for combining a small radio loud speaker with a hair dryer or the like wherein each patron of a beauty parlor may listen t a diiferent program.
Another object of the invention is to provide means for removably attaching a loud speaker unit to a hair dryer without changing the construction of the dryer.
A further object of the invention is to provide a combination hair dryer and radio which is of a simple and economical construction.
With these and other objects and advantages in view the invention consists of the new and novel combination, construction, and arrangement of parts as hereinafter more fully described, set forth in the claim appended hereto, and disclosed in the accompanying drawings,
'forming part hereof, wherein:
Figure 1 is a view showing a side elevation of a hair dryer hood having a loud speaker unit attached thereto.
Figure 2 is a plan view of the dryer hood taken on line 2-2 of Figure 1 with part broken away showing the means for attaching the unit to the hood.
Figure 3 is a vertical section through the loud speaker unit taken on line 3-3 of Figure 4.
Figure 4 is a view showing a front elevation of the speaker unit with part of the attaching clamp broken away.
Figure 5 is a view illustrating a typical wiring diagram of the unit.
Figure 6 is a View showing an end elevation of a speaker unit illustrating a modification wherein the unit is provided with a spring clamp by which it may be attached to a hair dryer.
Referring now to the drawings wherein like reference characters indicate corresponding parts the combination hair dryer and radio of this invention includes a hair dryer I0, and a loud speaker housing H, and the dryer is pivotally mounted on a post l2 through a joint l3.
In the design shown in Figures 1 to 4 inclusive, the loud speaker unit H is provided with a bracket I4 that is held to a casing [5 by bolts.
i6 and I1, and the outer end of the bracket is provided with a clamp [8 that is held by a screw 19 to the rim 20 of the hood of the dryer I), as shown in Figure 2.
The loud speaker unit may be of any type and in the design shown the unit is provided with a volume control button 2| that actuates a pointer 22 along a resistance 23, as shown in Figure 5. The point is connected to the diaphragm by a wire 24 with the other terminal of the coil 25 thereof connected to the resistance and current supply by a wire 26, and with the resistance connected to means for supplying impulses by a wire 21.
The unit II is provided with a face plate 28 to which the diaphragm is attached by screws 29 and the diaphragm is positioned over an opening 30, as shown. The casing i5 is also provided with a cover plate 3| that is secured to lugs 32 by screws 33.
In the design shown in Figure 6 a loud speaker unit 34 having a volume control button 35 is provided with a spring clip 36 by which it may be frictionally held over the rim of a dryer hood or the like.
The loud speaker unit may, therefore, be provided with a bracket or spring clip, or any suitable means may be provided for mounting the unit on the hood of a dryer or the like. The loud speaker unit may also be used in combination with a dryer of any type or design.
It will be understood that other modifications may be made in the design or arrangement of the parts without departing from the spirit of the invention.
What is claimed is:
In an attachment for mounting a. loud speaker unit on a hair dryer hood, the combination which comprises an arcuate bracket having an extended end, means including bolts whereby said end is mounted on a housing of a loud speaker unit said bracket having a transversely disposed U-shaped section with a flange on the outer end for receiving a rim of a hairdryer hood with the rim of the hood positioned in the said U-shaped aa aas hs mbe hreaded jna asaa REFERENCES CITED :The following references are of record in the file of this patent:
