Referring now in detail to the preferred ernbodiment of the instant invention, like reference characters are used throughout to indicate similar elements in the drawings.

A pair of stands I0 and I2 are provided to support a nylon, canvas or the like, cover I4.

A shaft 22' is adapted to be. received in said collarv 20 and maybeheld in frictional engagement therewith such as. bya close fit or by conventional` screw threads. At the upper portion of said shaft 22 is a .luglil adapted toreceiveveyeletsl therearound. The said eyelet 26 isa conventionalmemb'er of..a tarpaulinor cover I4.

A substantially U-shaped framemember. is provided' .under the said cover I4 and'extendsI about the marginal edges thereof; Secured to one leg 28 ofthe said frameis a .perch 30 having an aperture therethrough. A link 32n having apertures at each end'thereof is received pivotally inl the said perclr3ll at one endthereof and in a suitable perch 34 of a slidable collar 38 at the other end thereof. The said slidable collar 36 is received on the shaft 22 and has a tapered pin 38 attached by suitable chain means 40 thereto. A plurality of apertures 42 are provided in the shaft 22 and are adapted to receive the said tapered pin 38 in selected positions in said shaft through the'utility of said apertures. By this construction, the said collar 36 may be slidably adjusted and latched in adjusted position on the said shaft 22. By adjustment of the collar 36 the leg 38 and consequently the web member 44 of said frame is relatively adjustable.

Oppositely disposed to the said perch 34 and the said link 32 is an identical construction which is moved by the action of the said collar as described hereinabove.

As pointed out hereinbefore, there are provided two stands I il and I2 and there are provided identical collar and linkage mechanisms on each stand. In order that the said cover or awning top I4 may be adjusted uniformly throughout, a connecting bar 46 is rigidly secured between each of the collars 35 which appear on the stands l0 and I2.

Secured to the corners of the said U-shaped frames are ropes or links 48 and 5D. Suitable eyelets may be provided at the edges of the cover I4 through which the said rope 48 may extend. Secured to the opposite ends of the said ropes are U-clamps 52 adapted to be anchored to the side of the boat 54. Obviously, the corners of the awning may be secured or anchored. When it is desirable to adjust the awning to another position other than shown. al1 that is necessary is to slide the said clamps 52 transversely of theedge 56 of the boat and move the connecting bar 46 vertically. It is noted that since the clamps 52 may be slid parallel to the said side edge 56, the members 48 and 50 may be a single rigid strand such as Wire and the like.

W'hile there has been described herein but a single preferred embodiment of the instant invention, it is apparent that various changes including omissions and additions may be made herein Without departing from the spirit of the invention. Accordingly, limitation is sought only in accordance with the scope of the frollowpitman links connecting said bosses and said legs, a cover attached to said legs and the part of said cover between the ends of said legs secured to said Stands and supportedby said vertical stands forming a hinge for said U-shaped members, said cover at least partially supporting said U-shaped frames, and flexible members each attached at one end to one of said U-shaped frame members and each having an adjustable clamp at the opposite end adapted to attach to the upper edges of the sides of a boat.

3. A canopy comprising a pair of vertical stands spaced from each other, bosses slidably disposed on said stands and having links pivoted thereto, a pair of substantially U-shaped frames,

- each having a web and a pair of legs extending said legs, and a cover attached to saidframes and a part of said cover between said'frames supported by said vertical stands, said cover being secured to said legs thereby at least partially supporting said U-shaped frames on said stands.
