HARROW EVENER.
Patented Jan. 24,1882.
WITNESSES INVENTOR www/ BY m ATTORNEYS.
UNITED STATES PATENT QFFICE.
HERMANN H. FISCHER, OF OSAGE, NEBRASKA.
HARROW-EVENER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 252,751, dated January 24, 1882. Application filed November 11, 1881. (Model) To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, HERMANN H. FISCHER, of Osa ge, Otoe county, Nebraska, have invented a new and useful. improvement in Harrow- Eveners, of which the following is a specification.
Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawings, in which similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts in all the figures.
Figure 1 is a perspective view of my improvement, shown as applied to a harrow. Fig. 2 is a plan View of the evener, and Fig.3isa rear elevation of the same.
The object of this invention is to promote convenience in clearing barrows of collected rubbish, and in adjusting them to harrow the ground fine or course.
The invention consists in a harrow-evener constructed of two triangular frameshinged to each other by a rod; also, in the combination, with the barrow-frame and the double-tree, of two triangular frames and their hinging-rod, whereby either part of the barrow-frame can be raised from its rear end or outer side to discharge collected rubbish without affecting the other part; and, also, in the combination, with the straight bars of the hinged triangular frames, ofa stop-plate attached to the bar of the one frame and overlapping the underside of the bar of the other frame, whereby the outer ends of the hinged frames are kept from dropping too low, as will be hereinafter fully described.
A represents a bar, to which, near its outer end, is attached the outer end of a bar, B. The bars A B incline from each other, and are connected at a little distance from their inner ends by a short bar, G,the ends of which are secured to the said bars A B by bolts or rivets. By this construction a triangular frame is produced, and two of these frames form my im-. proved evener.
The two frames A B G are hinged to each other by a rod or long bolt, D, which passes through perforated lugs formed upon the ends ofthe bars A B, therelative lengths of the said bars A B being such that the rod D will be at about right angles with-the bars A. To the lower side of one of the bars A is attached a plate, E, which overlaps the under side of the other bar A, as shown in Figs. 1, 2, and 3, to prevent the outer ends of the said frames A B 0 from swinging too far downward.
The two bars A are connectedwith the har- .to be closed together or farther apart, according as it is desired to harrow the ground finer or coarser.
The double-tree H, the whiffletrees I, and the double-tree clevises J are niad'e'in the ordinary manner.
Withthis construction either part of the harrow can be raised to discharge the collected rubbish without affecting the position of the other part, and either part can be raised from its rear end and its outer side with equal facility.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- 1. The herein-described harrow-evener,co11- sisting oftwo triangular frameshinged together at their bases, as set forth.
2. In a harrow-evener, the combination, with the barrow-frame F and the double-tree H, of the two triangular frames A BC and the hinging-rod D, substantially as herein shown and described, as set forth.
3. An improved harrow-evener, consisting of .the triangular frames A B O, hinged together at their bases and provided with the plate E,
secured to the under side of one of the bars A, I
with its end projecting beyond said bar under the end of the other bar, substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
HERMANN HEINRICH FISCHER. Witnesses:
