Description

Patented Jan. 31, 1950 UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICEv 1 Claim.
This invention relates to a three-in-one shaving set which can be utilized as a shaving brush, razor and container for shaving powder.
An object of this invention is to provide a device which will enable a person to shave with the use of one implement which will lather and shave the face without the necessity of having a separate brush and razor.
Another object of this invention is to provide a device that is particularly adapted for traveling purposes since it saves space and provides in a unitary structure, a device which will supplant under ordinary circumstances three separate and distinct articles.
With these and other objects and advantages in view, the invention consists of the novel details of construction, arrangement and combination of parts more fully hereinafter described, claimed and illustrated in the accompanying drawing, in which:
Figure l is a vertical section of an embodiment of the invention;
Figure 2 is a top plan view thereof with the cap in place;
Figure 3 is a detailed view of the rod guide and support;
Figure 4 is a side view of Figure 2;
Figure 5 is a top View with the cap removed, and
Figure 6 is a plan view of the razor blade.
Referring more in detail to the drawings, the reference numeral Ill designates the tubular handle member having an internally threaded shoulder I2 at the open top end thereof and a conical discharge mouth or nozzle I 4 at the closed bottom thereof which is surrounded by the recess I6 formed by the depending flange I8. Bristle tufts 28 are secured in the recess I6 by any conventional means and surround the nozzle I4 on the outside thereof.
The handle Il! may be made of plastic or metal and is adapted to hold shaving powder therein.
The top I2 is closed by a closure nut 22 having the depending externally threaded portion 24, an outwardly and downwardly inclined flange 26 which is cut at six straight sides and edges 28 to form a hexagon and a medial recess 30 having a conical apertured projection 32 formed at the center thereof.
A conical valve 34 positioned at the opening of the nozzle Iii has an actuating rod 36 connected thereto which passes through the apertured conical projection 32 and has a knob or nut 38 threaded on the end thereof. A spring 39 positioned in the recess 38 abuts the knob 38 and maintains the valve 34 in closed position at all times.
A cross shaped guide and rod support 4!) is positioned at the bottom of the handle member I8 and the rod 36 passes through the apertured hub 42 formed at the center of the support 48.
The ange 26 is provided with razor blade receiving recesses 44 housing the razor receiving lugs 46 and the razor guard forming teeth 48. A razor blade 58 as shown in Figure 6 is secured in place by means of the lugs 46 and a plate 52 positioned on the blade 58 and retained in place by the nut 54 provides a razor when the blade 50 is in alignment with the cutout 56 in the cap 58. The nut 54 being threadably connected to the externally threaded projection 60 of the nut 22 is received in the medial opening 62 of the cap 58 so that the cap 58 can be rotated around the nut to gain access to each blade as desired.
In operation, the knob 38 is pressed inward to allow soap powder to enter the bristle tufts 20 and release thereof closes the valve 34 until more powder is required. The razor is used in the conventional manner, turning the cap 58 to expose each individual blade as desired.
It will be apparent to those skilled in the art that a complete unitary combination shaving brush, soap dispenser and razor has been provided wherein the shaving operation is expedited, and
A an outfit provided which Will save space While travelling.
It is to be understood that modifications and changes may be resorted to where the combination and arrangement of parts are concerned provided such modifications and changes fall within the purview of the invention and the claim appended thereto.
Having thus described the invention, what is claimed as new and desired to be secured by Letters Patent is:
A device of the character described, comprising a tubular handle adapted to contain shaving powder, said handle having an internally threaded shoulder at one end thereof, a conical shaped discharge nozzle at the opposite end thereof, a hexagonally shaped nut having a depending externally threaded portion adapted to be threadably mounted in said shoulder, an outwardly and downwardly inclined flange formed on said nut exteriorly of said handle, a medial recess in said nut, a conical apertured projection in said recess, a valve actuating rod in said projection having a conical shaped valve on the end thereof within said nozzle, a knob on said rod for controlling said valve, a compression spring on said projection engaging said knob to force said valve into closed position, an externally threaded upwardly projecting portion surrounding said recess, a plate on said portion of substantially the same shape as said nut, a second plate on said first plate for holding said first plate in close contact With said nut and a second nut on said sec- 0nd plate engaging said upwardly projecting portion to retain said plate in xed relation to said first plate, the :plates onsaid nuts decreasing in circumference to permit a better gripping surface for said nut in the removal thereof.
