This invention relates to a shaper for trousers which is especially designed to shape trousers aft-er they have been washed or dry cleaned.

An object of the invention is to provide a device which is simple in operation and construction, durable in use, efficient in operation and can be inexpensively manufactured.

With the above and other objects in view the invention consists of the novel details of construction, arrangement and combination of parts more fully hereinafter described, claimed and illustrated in the accompanying drawing in which:

Figure 1 is an elevational view of an embodiment of the invention;

Figure 2 is a sectional view on the line 2-2 of Figure 1;

Figure 3 is a sectional View on the line 3-3 of Figure 2 with the latch in latching position;

Figure 4 is the same with the latch in unlat-ching position and Figure 5 is a sectional view on the line 5-5 of Figure 1.

Referring more in detail to the drawing, the reference numeral l designates the body frame which is comprised of complementary shaped, U-

shaped members l2 and I4 respectively, having the inturned shortened end portions l6 and the elongated inturned end portions l8.

The members 12 and I4 have a flat rear edge 20 and tapered front edge 22, and a clamp 24 having a pivoted latch member 26 therein is inserted over the free ends of the sections as shown.

The lat-ch 26 has a tapered tongue portion 28 at one end thereof which, when in latching position, lies intermediately of the tapered front edges 22 of the sections l2 and i4, and the opposite end is hooked shaped in formation as at 30, so that the body frame may be suspended from a suitable support as desired.

In operation, the sections are slid toward each other to be inserted within a trouser leg, and then the sections I8 are extended to the desired position and manipulation of the latch 26 will latch the sections in position. The sections l 6 are then extended and latched in position by means of the latch 26.

The trouser leg is thus held in pressing position until thoroughly dry, at which time the trousers are fully shaped, and do not need to be ironed.

The shaper may also be used for trousers that have been dry cleaned, dampened by the rain or wherever the crease therein has been removed and the trousers need reshaping.

It is believed that the operation and construction of the invention will be apparent to those skilled in the art and it is to be understood that changes in the minor details of construction, arrangement and combination of parts may be resorted to provided they fall within the spirit of the invention and the scope of the appended claims.

Having thus described the invention, what is claimed as new and desired to be secured by Letters Patent is:

1. -A device of the character described, comprising an adjustable frame for shaping trousers including a pair of complementary U -shaped members, having shortened inturned end portions and elongated inturned end portions respectively, said U-shaped member-s having a fiat rear edge and a tapered front edge and means for retaining the frame in adjusted positions, said means comprising U-shaped clamp members adapted to be inserted on the shortened ends of said U-shaped I frame members, a pivoted latch carried by each of said clamp members, said latch having a tapered tongue portion which is adapted to lie intermediate of the tapered front edges of said frame members to lock said frame members in adjusted relation to each other.

2. The invention as in claim 1, wherein said 35 latch is provided with a hooked end whereby said frame members may be suspended from a suitable support.
