The present invention is concerned with the provision of a new and useful method of wax distribution and application, comprising, an apparatus for use in combination with types of mechanism to which said apparatus may be adapted.
Broadly it is an object of this invention to provide a method of wax distribution and application comprising an apparatus for adaptation to types of mechanism suitable to said apparatus and of a form which consists generally of a reservoir, means for transmitting wax liquid, molten wax, Wax in solvent and emulsified wax from said reservoir to a shallow trough, and a rotatable roller which, as it rotates, dips into trough thereby becoming coated with wax which is thence transmitted by said roller, thru rotation thereof, to and wiped therefrom upon a wiping means, for uniform wax saturation of said means, to further uniform application of Wax to a surface to be coated thereby.
This invention resides substantially in the combination, arrangement and relative location of parts all in accordance with the disclosure herein.

The true nature and manner of use of an apparatus in accordance with this invention will be best understood by a detailed description of the form thereof shown in the drawings in an i1- lustrative sense.
As above outlined some of the embodiments of this invention are illustrated in the annexed drawings, Figures 1, 2, and 3, show an apparatus according to this invention as associated with a waxing mechanism as disclosed in my co-pending application filed January 31, 1945, Serial Number 575,527, now Pat No. 2,430,187, issued November 4, 1947, and in Figure 4 is shown an apparatus according to this invention as adapted to a floor waxing mechanism.
This apparatus includes a transverse reservoir 2 which, as shown in Figures 1 and 4, is supported at opposite ends thereof and elevated as to the rag wiping roller 3. On a lower plane is a supported auxiliary tank t having a ball cock 5 to maintain a predetermined wax level therein and in an adjoining trough 7 which has an overflow 2 Claims. Said reservoir 2 and auxiliary tank 4 are connected for gravity flow of fluid wax therebetween by a vertical valve controlled pipe interpassage 6. At the union of the auxiliary tank 4 and a shallow oblong trough l, a portion of the inner face thereof forming the outer face of the auxiliary tank 4, is an open inter-passage 8 thru which wax fluid overflows from th auxiliary tank into the shallow trough I.
Wax from said trough is transmitted to and distributed over the rag roller 3 and to assure uniform transmission of wax fluid therebetween there is provided a transverse rotatable roller 9 having bearing support at opposite ends thereof, which, as rotated counterclockwise thru means of a prime mover ll] and connecting driving mechanism, the outer periphery thereof is immersed in the wax fluid in said trough producing a wax coating thereon which is thence wiped from said roller as it rotates into wiping contact with the rag roller 3 which is rotatable clockwise by means of driving mechanism also driven by the prime mover ID and rotated in direct contact with the surface to be wiped or coated with wax.
It is obvious that changes can be made in the various details of the apparatus, especially is this true in preparation for adaptation to mechanisms of various types, without departure from the true scope and spirit of the invention, and it is understood that the invention shall not be limited otherwise than by the appended claims,
What is claimed is:
1. A distribution apparatus of the kind described, comprising a main supply reservoir for fluid coating substance, an auxiliary tank positioned below and having connection with the reservoir for gravity flow of fluid therefrom to such tank, said auxiliary tank containing a valve means to maintain a predetermined fluid level, a shallow dispensing trough adjacent said auxiliary tank and fed by overflow therefrom, a pickup roll positioned above said shallow trough and extending thereinto, an applicator roll contacting said pickup roll and extending below said shallow trough, and means for driving said pickup roll and applicator roll in opposite directions.
2. A distribution apparatus of the kind described, comprising a main supply reservoir for fluid coating substance, an auxiliary tank positioned below and having connection with the reservoir for gravity flow of fluid therefrom to such tank, said auxiliary tank containing a valve means including a ball-cock to maintain a predetermined fluid level, a shallow dispensing trough adjacent said auxiliar tank and fed by overflow therefrom, a pickup roll positioned above said shallow trough and extending thereinto, an applicator roll contacting said pickup roll and extending below said shallow trough, and means for driving said pickup roll and applicator roll in opposite directions. 7
