Application May 8, 1946, Serial No. 668,194 1 Claim. (Cl. 21938) very efiectively heat air through theregisters.
Another object a heater consisting of mg part of the air duct.
Another object of the invention is to provide an air heater which is simple in construction and not liable to get out of order.
The invention is illustrated in the accompanying drawings wherein:
Fig. 1 is a sectional View showing a heater of the improved construction mounted in position for use.
Fig. 2 is a top plan view of the heater.
Fig. 3 is a View taken along the line 3-3 of Figure 1.
Fig. 4 is a fragmentary view showing a portion of the heater in elevation.
Fig. 5 is a. wiring diagram.
This heater which is indicated in the numeral 1 is mounted in an elbow through an opening in a fioor cates with a hood 1 having gratings or registers 8 at opposite sides so that when the dampers or shutters 9 are opened air may flow into rooms at opposite sides of the partition wall I0.
I is formed as shown in Figures 1 and 2 and includes in its construction a multiplicity of tubes H which are disposed vertically and arranged in a block, the tubes having confronting side portions welded or otherwise secured to each other. The dimensions of the block of tubes is such that the block fits into the casing 2 in spaced relation to walls thereof and rests upon brackets l2 carried by walls of the casing. Confronting side portions of the tubes are formed with transversely extending openings l3 which register as shown in Figure 4, and form aligned passages through which are passed heating elements l4. These heating elements are electrically energized and of conventional formation and are wired in series so that when a circuit is closed the heating elements or units will heat the described the invention, what is against side walls thereof above the inlet opening, a bank of vertically extending air tubes in said casing spaced from the walls and top of the HARRY F. MACDONALD. WILLIAM N. ASKERS.
