2 Claims. 1
The present invention relates to coat hangers and more particularly to a novel clothes hanger adapted to suspend a coat and two pairs of trousers.
An object of the invention is to provide a device which will includ springless means for separate hanging of two pairs of trousers and a removable coat hanging element.
Other and further objects of the invention will appear as the description proceeds, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, in which-- Fig. 1 is a view in perspective of a clothes hanger embodying my invention.
Fig.2 is an end view of the same unlatched.
Fig. 3 is a plan view of th detachable coat hanger.
Fig. 4 is an edge view of the same.
Fig. 5 is an edge View of the detachable coat hanger in folded position.
Fig. 6 is a side view in elevation of the clothes hanger showing the detachable coat hanger in place.
Referring more in detail to the drawing, the numeral Ill refers to the device generally having a central bar ll, rigidly connected with a wire frame l2, which latter has a U-shaped dip l3 in the top thereof. A hanger hook M has a bifurcated lower end IS, the terminals of which are bent to form eyes It, which engage pivotally around the lower segment I! of the U-shaped bend in frame l2. A bend occurs at l8 of the end l5, for a purpose which will be later described. A wire latch I9 is fastened by eyes 20 to the segment I! by the ends in a manner similar to that of eyes Hi. This latch has a bend at 2| thereof, also for a purpose which will be later described.
A pair of moveable outer bars 24 and 25 are provided, and each bar has an auxiliary frame member 26 and 21 constituting a single piece of wire attached to bar 25, at 28 and 29 thereof and with its upper end bent around the top of frame I2 and thereunder to form a short arm lever 26a, for the latch l9. The auxiliary frame 2! is bent similarly to provide a short arm lever 21a. forming a keeper for the bend l8 in the hook shank l5. It will be seen that when the hook I4 is pulled to an upright position, the bend l8 will engage with the short arm lever 26a pressing it inwardly of the device and causing the outer bar 24 to press firmly against the inner or central bar II, or anything held therebetween. Similarly when the latch I9 is pulled downwardly, its bend 2| engages to secure inwardly the lever portion 21a of the upper portion of auxiliary frame 27, thus forcing by pressure against said lever 21a, the outer bar 21 against the central bar H.
A detachable coat hanger includes a central segment 30 and a rectangular opening at 3| thereof, the corners of which are rotundly indented as at 32 to receive the round contours of frames 26 and 21 as shown in Fig. 6. Pivotally attached to the central segment 30, at 33 and 34 thereof are the shoulder supports 35 and 36, one on either face of said segment.
The detachable coat hanger may be compactly folded as shown in Fig. 5.
It will be understood that the device is capable of many modifications in structure and design, without departing from the spirit of the invention, within the scope of the appended claims.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States is:
1. In a device of the class described, a trouser hanger, a hanger hook for the same, substantially vertical wire frame members connecting the hook and the body of the hanger, a supplementary hanger comprising a plurality of plates pivoted interconnectedly at their ends and adapted to fold substantially on a plane, the center plate having a rectangular opening centrally therein adapted to engage about the said rods.
2. In a device of the class described, a trouser hanger, a hanger hook for the same, substantially vertical wire frame members connecting the hook and the body of the hanger, a supplementary hanger comprising a plurality of plates pivoted interconnectedly at their ends and adapted to fold substantially on a plane, the center plate having a rectangular opening centrally therein with cut out portions at the corners thereof adapted to receive the said rods.
CARL F. BRINKMAN.
