2 Claims.

My invention relates to scaffolds and an object thereof is to provide a scaffold which may be attached to a common ladder.

Another object of this invention is to provide a ladder supported scaffold by means of which a wall may be painted without leaving unpainted scaffold engaging portions or spots.

A still further object of my invention is to provide a painters or other scaffold, the entire weight of which is suspended from a common ladder.

Other features and advantages will become more readily apparent from the following description and the accompanying illustrative drawings in which:

Figure 1 is a diagrammatic view of my invention,

Figure 2 is a top plan view thereof,

Figure 3 is a broken away front elevational view thereof, and

Figures 4 and 5 are detail sections on lines 4-4 and 5-5 of Figures 3 and 2 respectively.

In the above drawings as well as in the specification to follow, the same characters of reference indicate the same parts throughout.

While one embodiment of my invention is illustrated in the above referred to drawings, it is to be understood that they are merely for the purpose of illustration and that various changes in construction may be resorted to in the course of manufacture in order that the invention may be utilized to the best advantage according to circumstances which may arise, without in any "way departing from the spirit and intention of my device, which is to be limited only in accordance with the appended claims. And while I have stated the primary field of utility of my invention it remains obvious that it may be employed in any other capacity wherein it may be found applicable.

My invention [0, as indicated in the accompanying drawings, consists of a scaffold member or board ll, connected by chains I2 and I3, to a header member I4, which has projected through spaced apart transverse bores I5, bolts I6 and I1, provided with hook ends [8 and I9, adapted to engage a round 20, of a ladder 2 I. Wing nuts 22 and 23, on the bolts l8 and I1, provide means whereby the header l4, may be securely attached to the ladder.

34 and 35, are pointed so as to touch the wall only at a very small spot which will not interfere with painting of the wall or will not leave an untouched spot on the wall and paint will readily be absorbed under said points. The ladder 2|, may be either a one-piece ladder or an extension ladder as shown.

From the foregoing it will be seen that I have provided a safe, simple, rigid, easily set up scaffold which will not interfere with painting or working on the side wall of a building.

It is thought that persons skilled in the art to which the invention relates will be able to obtain a clear understanding of the invention after considering the description in connection with the drawings. Therefore, a more lengthy description is regarded as unnecessary.

Changes in shape, size and rearrangement of details and parts such as come within the purview of the invention claimed may be resorted to, in actual practice, if desired. l

Having now described my invention that which I claim as new and desire to procure by Letters Patent is:

1. A scaffold attachment for a ladder which includes a header, clamp hooks on the header adapted to be clamped to a rung of a ladder, spacers adjacent opposite ends of the header to hold the upper end of the ladder in spaced relation to a wall, a scaffold, hooked brackets intermediate opposite ends of the scaffold to hook about a rung of the ladder below the header and suspension chains connecting opposite ends of the header with opposite ends of the scaffold.

2. A scaffold attachment for a ladder which includes a header of a length equal to substantially three times the width of the ladder, a spacer adjacent each end of the header adapted to engage a wall to hold the upper end of the ladder in spaced relation to the wall and to stabilize the ladder, a pair of spaced clamp hooks intermediate the ends of the header adapted to be clamped to a rung of the ladder, a scaffold of a length greater than the header, a pair of spaced supporting hooks extending laterally from the scaffold substantially midway between its ends, said last named hooks being adapted to engage a rung of the ladder below that to which the header is secured and a suspension chain atv,tached to each end of the header and adjacent each end of the scafiold:
