y This invention relates to new and useful improvements in denture packing and more particularly to an adjustable device for exerting packing pressure on dental'ilasks to the end that the same can be closed and secured preparatory to heat processing.
An important object of the invention is to provide a device of the character stated which will exert suflicient pressure on a denture containing flask to permit proper closing of the ilask without breaking the invested model or investment.
Other important objects and advantages of the invention will become apparent to the reader of the following description.

Figure 5 is a side elevational view of the clamp with a portion broken awa Referring to the drawings wherein like numerals designate like parts, it can be seen that numeral Sdenotes a two-part vertically disposed shell having an inverted U-shaped frame 6 secured at its upper portion by securing elements 'I. This shell 5 may be secured by a bracket 8 and securing element 9 and by any other attaching means found suitable, to a bench or other support.
A pressure plate i6 is slidable in the frame 6, the ends being recessed to permit straddling of the side portions orf the frame 6 as is apparent in Figures l and 2.
A slide member I I is vertically slidable through the top of the frame 6 and through a xed partition i2 in close spaced proximity to the top of the frame 6. The top of this slide member II has a knob I3 and interposed between this knob and the top of the frame 6 is a coiled compression spring It. One side of the slide member I l has ratchet teeth I5 with which a slidable detent I5 is engageable, this detent being slidably disposed through the upper portion of one side of the frame 6 where it is provided with a linger hook Il. This detent I6 has a spring I8 for holding the same against the teeth I5. The lower end of the slide member I I is connected to an upstanding flange I9 on the pressure plate IU.

It can be seen, that a ilask 2 l is first set upon the clamp section 22 after which the bolts 24 are disposed through the slots in the bridge plate 26 and the wing nuts 26 secured down upon this bridge member 26 for preliminarily holding the flask closed.
A slot 2l is provided in one side wall of the shell 5 land through this extends an elongated foot lever 28 fulcrumed as at 29 and having a hook formation 66 at its inner end. This hook formation is preferably bifurcated and straddles the lower T-structure 3| of a rod 32, the latter being threadably disposed into a cross pin 34 journaled in bars as at 34a on the bottom of a frame-like connector 33. This allows for adjustment of the rod to regulate the force of a spring 46, thus allowing for a variation of pressure on the nask 2i. The coiled tension spring 35 eX- tends from the bottom of the connector 33 to connect to an anchor on the inside of the shell 5, this for the purpose of drawing the connector downwardly. At the top of the shell 5 is a pressure plate 36, the end portions of which are recessed to straddle the side portions of the frame 6. The frame 26 with its held denture iiask rests upon this pressure plate.
Numeral 37 denotes a rod secured by a nut or nuts 38 at its lower er1-d to the frame co-nnector 33 and said rod 3l extends to the pressure plate 36. Interpos'ed between the connector 33 and the pressure plate 36 is lthe coiled compression spring 46. It will be observed that the lower portion of the rod Slis slidable through an opening in the connector 33.
A shaft il is provided in the lower portion of the shell 5 and has a notched detent 62 capable of engaging the hook end 36 of the lever 28 to hold the same when depressed. A spring i3 is 1 provided for urging the detent I2 against the hook end of the lever 28. At the outer end of the shaft 6I is a short arm i4 Ato which is connected the lower end of rod 65, said rods extending through a vguide 46 and having a hand knob 4l.
It can now be seen, that with the parts as shown in Figure 1, a, flask placed in the clamp 20 may be set upon the pressure plate 36 and the plate IU pushed down against the same by the slide member Il and held in this position by the detent i6.
The lever28 may now be forced downwardly by the operators foot and to be held in depressed position by the detent 42. Depression of the lever 28 forces the connector 33 upwardly in opposition to the spring 35. Upward movement of the connector 33 compresses the spring 4U against the pressure plate 36 and thereby yieldingly clamps the clamp 20 between said plates 36 and When it is desired that pressure be released, a slight pressure on the lever 28 and actuation of plate downwardly against the denture ask into different set locked positions, and treadle-operative self-locking means for exerting yielding pressure upwardly against the lower plate.

In a denture packing machine, apair of upper and lower vertically slidable pressure plates, a denture flask holder interposed between said plates and yieldable under pressure against the same, manipulative means to move the upper plate downwardly into diierent set posi-tions against said holder, and treadle-operative means Y for subsequently exerting yielding pressure upthe control rod 45 to displace the detent 42 will wardly against the lower plate. y
3. In a denture packing machine, a pair of upper and lower vertically slidable pressure plates, a denture flask holder interposed between said plates and yieldable under pressure against the same, manipulative means to move the upper plate downwardly into different set positions against said holder, and treadle-operative means for subsequently exerting yielding pressure upwardly against the lower plate comprising a treadle-forming lever vertically swingable and having a short lever arm, a rod movable upwardly by said arm, a vertically slidable connector between said rod and lower plate, operative by said rod, and a coil spring interposed between said connector and lower plate.
