dented Mar. 26, 1946 UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE 2,397,416 LIPSTICK HOLDER Joe B. Haley, Houston, Tex. Application July 27, 1944, Serial N0. 546,769
2 claims. (o1. 13e-79) This invention relates to a cosmetic holder. The invention has been particularly designed for holding lipsticks.
An object of thev invention is-to provide a holder of the character described wherein a number of lipsticks may be held so that the cosmetic will be protected and so that the lipstick will be readily accessible for individual use.
It is another object of the invention to provide a holder of the character described whereby the cosmetic may be easily and accurately applied without soiling the hand of the user.
With the above and other objects in view the invention has particular relation to certain novel features of construction, arrangement of parts and use, an example of which is given in this specication and illustrated in the accompanying drawing wherein:
Figure 1 shows a front elevation ofthe holder.A
Figure 2 shows a rear view.
Figure 3 shows a sectional view taken on thel line 3-3 of Figure 4.
Figure 4 shows a cross sectional view taken on the line 4-4 of Figure 3; and- Figure 5 -shows a cross sectional view taken on the line 5-5 of Figure 3..
Referring now more particularly to the drawlalso a stop.v The discs l and 2 may be secured to the spacer in any preferred manner. The discs are preferably of glass in the form of mirrors and the spacer may be of glass or plastic or other suitable material. The discs are preferably, a1-
The disc I is of greater transverse diameter than that of the disc 2 as clearly shown-in Figures 2, 4 and 5. y
Spaced outwardly from the spacer, or stop, 3 and arranged between the discs are the separators 4. They are substantially triangular in shape and are spaced apart to snugly yreceive the sticks I between them. lThey may be formed of any suitable material, such as plastic, and secured to the discs in any preferred manner. If desired they may be joined integrally together forming one annular piece with radial grooves to receive the sticks 5.
The sticks v5 may be formed of paper 0r other suitable material or composition. The cosmetic or paint is applied to the inner ends thereof as shown in Figure 3 and the sticks then inserted through the spaces between the separators 4 until their inner ends contact the stop 3. They are of such length that their outer ends will be ilush with the margin of the disc I. Their outer ends will thus be exposed beyond the margin of the disc 2, as shown inFigure 4, so that they will be readily accessible. Consequently in use the hand of the user will not be soiled.
When a stick is used it may be discarded and the`ho1der may be reloaded from time to time as Ving wherein like numerals of reference designate becomes necessary. It will be obvious that cosmetics of many different tints will thus always be available for use.
The article is of such size that it may be readily carried in-a purse or handbag.
The drawing and description are illustrative merely while/the broad principle of the inventionA will be defined by the appended claims..
What` I claim is:
1. A cosmetic holder comprising spaced circular, concentric discs, a circular spacer between the discs forming a stop, separators between the discs spaced apart to provide radial spaces for the reception of cosmetic sticks, the separators being spaced outwardly from the stop to form a circular, clear space between them into which the radial spaces merge one of said discs being of greater transverse diameter than the other disc.
2. A cosmetic holder comprising two plates spaced apart, a stop between the plates, the margin o/f one plate extending outwardly beyond the corr' spending margin vof the other plate, separators between the plates spaced outwardly from said `stop to' form a clear, circular, space between the separators and stop, said separators being also spaced apart to receive cosmetic sticks between them.
