Description
J. KATZ ET AL,
ANIMAL TROPHY vCUT OUT F-il-ed April 26, 1944 ATTORNEY Y Patented Aug. 14, 1945 n UNITED STATES PATENT` OFFICE i zagssazsiik` "AIMAL TRQPHY CUTOUT` f p n Jack `Kartzand Alfonso Alfano, NevvYork.; I Anpiicat'icn April 2s, 1944. serialN'o. ssaei solaires. (aldil-510)` "Thisv invention relates to new. and useful improvements in atrophy display.` l f More particularly, the invention. proposes` a trophy display cutout which may be readily mounted -upon a wall, to simulateia trophy display.A Preferably, though not necessarily', it is proposed that the trophy cutout bean animal cutout. i
Still further the invention proposes to characterize the new` andimproved trophycutout by the fact that it is formedfrom a printed sheet, the `pieces of which may be cutout and connected together to form a threeI dimensional ligure for mountinguponawall. f. 1
It is proposed thatat least one ofthe-pieces, a main `fiat sheet be provided with gummed material which may be easily moistened and pasted on the Wall. The additional'piecesare arranged? for connection withfsaid main piece to form the three dimensional figure.
More specifically, the invention also proposes the construction of an animal trophy characterized by a flat body piece with gummed material on its back for pasting on a flat wall and adapted to be connected with and to support a tubularlike sheet neck piece which in turn is adapted to be connected piece.
Another object of the invention is the construction of a device as mentioned which is simple and durable and which may be manufactured and sold at a reasonable cost.`
For further comprehension of the invention, and of the objects and advantages thereof, reference will be had to the following description and with and to support a ilat head accompanying drawing, and to the appended claims in which the various novel features of the invention are more particularly set forth.
In the accompanying drawing forming a material part of this disclosure:
Fig. 1 is a front elevational view of an animal trophy cutout mounted on a wall in accordance back face bywhich it maybe pasted onA avvall I 2. The `front of the ilatbody piecel I0 is imprinted to simulate a portion of the body ofk` an animal. i i
A` tubular-like with the body I0 and projects from the "wall I2.' This tubular-like neck piece I4- is bent from a nat sheet, as for example illustrated inlFig. 3. This piece I4 is imprinted to simulate the neck ofthe animal. The neck piece I4 is provided with bottom lugs I5and bottomxbendable portions I6:
which may be bent behind portions of the iiat head of the` animal. The.A lugs I'I are secured to the backof 'the head piece I8; preferablywith adhesive material, which covers the enti1"e.ba`ck`r face of the head piece IB.
It is intended that a purchaser be supplied with printed sheets containing the various pieces needed to form a trophy.l These pieces are then cut out from the sheet and are connected together and mounted upon a wall, substantially as disclosed. While the invention is particularly intended to represent an animal trophy, it should be borne in mind that other trophies and displays may be made in accordance with this invention.
In Fig. 5v a modified form of the invention is disclosed to illustrate that various embodiments are possible, which distinguishes from the prior form in the fact that the trophy is provided with a head piece I8 which has side lugs 20 slidably p passing through strap portions 2 I formed by parallel slits cut into the sides of the tubular-like sheet neck piece I4. The lugs 20 are provided with enlarged heads 22 to prevent them from easily coming out from behind the strips 2 I. The head piece IB' is pivotally supported on the neck piece I4 by one bottom central lug 23. With this arrangement it is possible to pivot the head piece I8 forwards to various inclined positions, one of such positions indicated by the dot and dash lines 18H. p
In other respects this form of the invention is similar to that previously shown and like reference numerals identify like parts in each of the several views. p
While we have illustrated and described the preferred embodiments of our invention, it is `to be understood that we do not limit ourselves to the precise constructions herein disclosed and the right is reserved to all changes and modificasheet neck piece I4 is connected piece by'a single bottom lug, and said head piece i having lugs frictionally engaging through slots formed in the sides of said neck piece.
2. An animal trophy cutout, comprisingl a iiat sheet neck piece for connectionwith said body piece, a flat head piece disposed on said neck piece, means pivotally connecting the .bottom of said head piece to the bottom of. said. neck piece, and means for .adj-ustably connecting the top corners of said head piece to adjacent areas of said neck piece for holding said head piece indesired piyoted positions about said bottompivotal connection'..v y o j,
. 3. An animal trophy cutout, comprising a flat body for pasting on. anat wall, a. tubular-like sheet neck piece for: connection Iwith said body piece, ailat head piece disposed on saidneck.
lpiece, means pivotally connecting lthe lbottom Aof` said head piece tothe bottom of said neck piece, and means for adjustably connecting thetop cori ners of said head piece to adjacent areas of said neckpiece for holding. said head Vpiece rin desired pivoted positions about said bottom pivotal v,connection, said rst means, comprising a lug formed.' on the ,bottom of said neck piece and secured tof thjebackof said head piece adjacent-,the bottom thereof.. s i
4. An animal trophy cutout, comprising a nat body for pasting on a at wall, a tubular-like sheet neck piece for connection With said body piece, a at head piece disposed on said neck piece, means pivotally connecting the bottom of said head piece to the bottom of said neck piece, and means for adjustably connecting the top corners of said head piece to adjacent areas of said neck piece for holding said head piece indesired pivoted positions about said bottom pivotal connection, said rst meansy comprising a lug formed on the bottom of said neck piece and segl. cured to the back of said head piece adjacent the bottom thereof, said latter means, comprising lugs extending rearwards from the back face of said. head piece and each being frictionally enbody for pasting on a flat Wall, a tubular-like gaged through pairs'of slits formed in adjacent zareas of said neck piece.
5. An animal trophy cutout, comprising a flat body for pasting on a at wall, a tubular-like sheetfneck piece for connection with said-body piece, a flat head. piece disposed on said neck piece, means ypivota'lly connecting the bottom of said head piece to the bottom of said neck piece, and means forV adju-stably connecting the top cornersof said headpieceto adjacent areas of said neck piecefo-r holding said head piece in desired pivoted positions about said bottom' pivotal connection, said iirst means, comprising a lug formed. on the bottom of said neck piece and secured tothe back of'said head piece adjacent the bottom thereof,v said latter means, comprising lugs extending. rearwards from the back face of said head piece and each being frictionally engaged through pairs of slits formed in adjacent areas-ofsaid neck piece; and enlarged heads formed onthe vfreeends of said' lugs preventing their complete disengagement from said slits.
