3 Claims.
This invention relates to dispensers and more especially to a dispenser for latex and similar materials.
An object, of the invention is to provide a simple, practical and inexpensive article of the character described.
Another object of the invention is to provide an improved and more eflicient means of dispensing latex and similar viscous materials having fast drying properties.
An additional object is to provide a guide tube for a dispenser adapted for efficient application of cementitious material to the edge portions of fabric such as carpeting.
Other objects and advantages will appear and be brought out more fully in the following specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, wherein:
Fig. 1 is a sectional view of a dispenser and guide tube embodying my invention.
Fig. 2 is a sectional view taken along the line 2-2 of Fig. 1.
Fig. 3 is a sectional view taken along the line 3-3 of Fig. 1.
Fig. 4 is a perspective view showing the air inlet valve and connections, and,
Fig. 5 is a fragmentary view showing the rock lever.
Referring more particularly to the drawing I show a dispenser l having a generally cylindrical portion H and a threaded neck l2 for connection to the neck of a container l3 or other reservoir of liquid or viscous latex or similar cementitious material. Cylindrical portion H has an annular end portion H recessed to receive and hold a flared cap I provided with a circular dispensing aperture Hi.
Dispenser ID has a cylindrical portion |1 provided with an end plate |8 having an aperture IQ for a conical bleeder valve member 20. Member 20 has a lever arm 2| and plate |8 has an extension 22 adapted to form a fulcrum whereby to lift valve 20 from seat l9 when lever 2| is pressed downwardly as indicated.
A rod or pin 23 is suitably positioned in cylinder II and a rock lever 24 is mounted thereon. fever 24 has an aperture 25'at one end for en aging a link 26 which has a semi-spherical ball seat 21 for a marble ball valve 28 adapted to normally close dispensing aperture I6. An eyelet 29 or the like is secured to valve 20 and provides a flexible connection with a link member 30 to which is suitably secured a saddle 3| having an elongated slot 32 for engagement with the angular end portion 260. of member 26 which extends through aperture 25 of arm 24. A spring 33 is connected to eyelet 29 and an aperture 34 in arm 24.
The operation of'the invention as thus far described should be apparent. The latex or other material which fills cylinder II is normally reaperture I6.
be applied which pushes aperture I6 and the cementitious material runs tained therein since spring 33 maintains valve 20 and ball valve 28 in closed position. The latex may be dispensed by a pressure on the surface to ball valve 28 away from out. If however it is desired to admit air into cylinder valve lever 2| can be depressed raising valve 20 from seat l9 and the air thus admitted permits a more rapid flow of the dispensed liquid through dispensing aperture Hi. This lat ter movement of valve lever 2| will by engagement of saddle 3| and extension 260 raise ball guide 21 itself out and raise aperture I6.
I show a dispensing guide tube fixture 35 having a neck portion 36 adapted to fit over cap I5 and the endportion of cylinder H and having a slot portion 31 forming a pair of guide abutmcnts 38. By this structure the edge portions 39 of a pair of fabric pieces 40 to be cemented together can be placed in-slot 31 and the edge portions 39 will be adjacent dispensing The dispenser can thereupon be edges 39 dispensing the latex or other cementitious material thereon, which edges can thereafter be brought together for the drying of the cementitious material.
Having described my invention what I claim is:
1. A dispenser as described comprising a tubular body having a dispensing aperture, a ball valve for said aperture, a supply inlet for said body, a rock lever pivotally mounted in said body, a ball retaining link connected to said rock arm, a bleeder valve having an actuating lever,
ball valve 28 from dispensing passed over a springconnected to said bleeder valve and rock arm, and a link connected to and rock arm.
2. A dispenser as described comprising a tubular body having a dispensing aperture, a ball valve for said aperture, a supply inlet for said body, a rock lever pivotally mounted in said body, a ball retaining link connected to said rock arm, a bleeder valve having an actuating lever. a spring connected to said bleeder valve and rock arm. and a lost motion link connected to said bleeder valve and rock arm, said ball valve adapted to open by external pressure applied to said ball, said bleeder valve being kept closed by said spring.
3. A guide tube for a dispenser as described having a dispensing neck provided with an aperture, said guide tube adapted to be detachably secured to said neck and having a slot adapted to receive the edge portion of a flat element, said tube having an abutment at the bottom of said slot to engage said element edge portion for positioning said edge portion adjacent said dispensing neck aperture.
AUSTIN H.'BEAU1V|IER.
said bleeder valve and the pressure of the liquid will force:
