'I'his invention relates to a telescopic and iiuidoperated lifting jack for motor vehicles.
According to the invention, the vehicle is provided at a suitable point, preferably under the hood at the dashboard, with a liquid-containing receptacle and a pump, or with a pump for producing compressed air, whence conduits extend to supply points suitably arranged on both sides of the vehicle and are adapted to cooperate with the detachable telescopic lifting jack the lling of which with a pressure medium, as liquid or air, is controlled from the drivers seat.
The invention is illustrated by way of example ln the accompanying drawing showing an oiloperated hydraulic jack.

The lifting jack comprises telescopic tube members I correspondingly sealed relatively to one another and provided with passages 2 for liquid or air. The base member 3 is tted with a ball and socket joint 4 so as to be universally movable and permit adaptation of the jack to unevennesses of the ground. With the aid of a screw member 5 the base 3 can be screwed into the lowermost tubular member to lengthen or shorten the jack as required. In the example shown holes are provided in the ball of the joint for moving the screw member by means of a pin, though other arrangements may be made of course. is acted upon by the pressure medium, as liquid or air, in known manner and thus placed in supporting position to lift the vehicle. The jack is detachably connected to the vehicle by means of a U-shaped support I6 in which a supply outlet or mouthpiece is rotatably disposed. A cock plug I1 is arranged in a casing I8 and is provided with an outer case 9 rotatable on the plug I1 and held in position on the plug I1 by a spring II. The case 9 supports a conical member 8 to which the jack is attached with its top I which for this purpose is tted with a conical sleeve or socket 8 having a passage 1 for liquid or air. The cock The jack plug I'I possesses a channel I8 extending along its longitudinal axis and also a channel I9 branching off from the channel I8 in vertical direction thereto, and the end of the plug I1 where the channel I8 opens can be connected, for instance by a hose coupling, etc., to a conduit I2 coming ,from the pump. The conical member 8 is provided with a channel 28 extending vertically toward the channel I8, so that at a rotation of the case 9 about the plug I'I (from the horizontal to the vertical position of the member 8) the channels I8, I9 will be in communication with the radial channel 20 and permit passage of the pressure medium which enters the jack through the passage 1 of the sleeve 6. This rotation is effected by the jack attached with its conical sleeve 6 to the conical member 8. When the case 9 is turned back 90 at the removal of the jack, which takes place under the influence of spring I I communication between the channels I8, I9 and 20 ceases and the channel I9 is shut off by the wall of the case 9.
When attached to the member 8 the jack is secured in vertical position by the anges 2| which` engage behind angular members I3 of the casing I8.
The support I6 is laterally recessed for the passage of the ends of the valve cone and of the connecting means for the conduit I2. The plug II is provided with a screw headed head 22 adapted to be received in the internally screw threaded cap 23 rotatably mounted on the end of conduit I2.
When the jack is detached from the member 8 the opening thereof is closed by a threaded plug I4 shown in Fig. 3 to prevent the entrance of dirt and the opening in the conical member 8 may be closed by the cap I5 shown in Fig. 4.
To apply the jack, it is held horizontally and the conical socket 6 is placed over the conical member 8 which member is normally in a horizontal position. The jack is then turned down to the Vertical position as shown in Fig. 1 which places passage I 9 in the cock plug I1 in communication with passage 2D in member 9. In this movement the weight of the jack is suiiicient to overcome any force exerted by the spring I I and during the downward movement the inwardly projecting portions of the members I3 are brought under the projections 2 I. The screw 5 may then be adjusted if desired so that the base 3 is firmly seated onthe ground. The nozzle cap 23 is placed over the plug 22 and air supplied to the interior of the jack from a pump or reservoir, not shown.

1. A fluid-operated telescope lifting jack attachable to motor vehicles, comprising a body portion o! telescopic tubes iltted with passages for a pressure medium, a universally movable ground engaging base member attached to said tubes, a support on the vehicle frame for attaching said body portion thereto. a mouthpiece rotatably disposed on said support, a cock plug arranged in a casing possessing angular engaging members, said mouthpiece comprising a rotatable outer case fc-r said plug, a spring for holding said outer case in position on said plug, a conical member supported by said outer case for attaching the top portion of the jack thereto. a conical sleeve with a passage for a pressure medium in said top portion, an axial channel and a second channel branching of! from said nrst channel in vertical direction thereto in said cock plug, a supply conduit connectible to the end of said plug where said ilrst channel opens, a third channel provided in said conical member and extending vertically toward said first channel, said channels being in communication when the jack is turned 90 into operative position to permit the passage of a pressure medium and out of communication at the return motion of the jack, ilanges on said body portion engaging behind said angular members of said casing to secure the :lack in attached position and a threaded plug for closing the opening of said conical member after removal oi the jack. g

A iluid operated lifting :lack attachable to a motor vehicle. comprising a body portion of telescopic tubes having passages for a pressure medium, a universally movable ground engaging base member attached to said tubes, a support on said vehicle trame for attaching said body portion thereto, a plug fixed to said support, a. rotatable casing on said plug and having a conical member thereon said casing and member being formed with communicating radial passages a spring between said casing and support `for holding said casing on said plug and tending to rotate said casing to position said passages inclined to the vertical, said plug being formed with passages communicated with said radial passages when said radial passages are vertical, means for supplying iluid under pressure to the passages in said 2o plug and the top of said body portion being provided with a conical socket, adapted to receive said conical member and said socket having a passage adapted to communicate with said radial passages when the jack is applied to said conical gs member.
