Interposed between the head 29 and the piston 26 is an expansible member 33 of requisite tension and which operates to urge the upper end of the tubular valve stem 21 into engagement with theivalve-disk 34. When the fluid being lifted has reached the surface the pressure will be released from under thepiston so that the rgreater? After the column of fluid has been lifted by the air or gas pressure and delivered out through `the fluid discharge 22 the pressure will be released from b elow the piston26 and as a result top of the piston 26 said piston will move further downward to bring vtact with the ball valve the lower end of the stem 21 into closing cona-nd to bring the port 45 of the cap valve into register with theport 46.

' the upper end of said third sleeve being closed and the lower endv open, the side wall of the third sleeve adjacent' the closed end thereof being provided with a port, a cap valve carried by the lower end portion of the tubular stem and telescopically engaging' over the upper portion of the third sleeve, said cap valve being provided in its upper part with aA pressure inlet port and in its-lower portion with a iiuid inlet port for register with the port of the third sleeve upon movement of the cap. valve downwardly over the third sleeve, lthe upper closed end of the third valve being provided with a pocket, a valve member free within saidpocket for closing the lower end of the tubular stem upon movement of the same toward the third sleeve, and a cushion within the pocket upon which the ball valve rests.
